Found out yesterday that some ddles lowers that were supposed to be 7075 are not and that Jon was having the 6061 marked as 7075 just to get lowers out the door. I supposedly have a 7075 but have not found anyone locally to test it at a reasonable price.  Just beware.

If it's true, shame on them for false advertising, but if they are hard anodized, nobody will ever know the difference...
No lower has failed because it was 6061 instead of 7075.

Besides, DDLES is no more.

About 1/2 way down the page shows a quick and easy test with sodium hydroxide to determine different types of aluminum. You will have to strip a small section of the lower of its anodizing to do it but you can test it yourself.

Even so, for us that paid for it I sure would like to have it.

+1   I got one of the last ones from QC10 a couple months ago, regardless of what it's actually made of, it's fine.  Shitty thing to do for sure, but the gun will be fine.

There was talk about this topic in a thread here (over a year ago at least I'd say) and if I correctly remember, there is a number or some other distinguishing marking on one of the two receivers that determines whether it is of 7075 or 6061 aluminum.  Does this sound familiar to anyone else?

I found this in the long DDLES thread....

VGN = Colt 9mm
VGG = Glock small frame
VGF = Glock large frame
VG1 = Standard AR (5.56)

T1 = 6061
T2 = 7075

I don't know anything about metals or anodizing, so are the DDLES receivers hard anodized?? I have a T1 (6061). Just curious. Thanks!

Is T1 or T2 part of the model of these? Or would the "model" just be "VMN" for example with their colt 9 lower?

You have been misinformed.

Where did you hear this?

I checked mine and it is "T2".

BTW: Is the poster before me Jon Beaudry of DDLES in Tucson, AZ?  Just a guess due to the JBTUCAZ name...

Lots of searching found two members who posted that when they called ddles  (before closed) they were told the T1 or T2 were not part of the model #.
