I just picked up a CM Forge Code A2 upper, with a rear sight windage knob I haven't seen before.
It's the same basic shape (not rapidex), but has no ridges/knurling around the outside of it like most A2 knobs I've seen.  Instead it has two slots, like it requires some kind of spanner to turn.

What is it? What's the story?

OMG it's a TRANNY  All kidding aside, it's truly a transitional piece--an A2 "style" knob that also supposed to work with A1 uppers.  I haven't seen one in 30 years ... I know, I'm dating myself

Here's a picture posted by member Crackedcornish of what the back of the knob looks like.

I have that exact windage knob on my early A2  (green Colt upper)   Never knew what it was all about, and never found anyone else with one ....til now !
