I am looking at buying a Colt AR15 A2 HBAR Sporter that appears to be in pristine condition. It is advertised for $900. I know that in some states these pre-ban Colts bring a higher price, but in a gun-friendly state, like I am, the market prices are not as high. My question is, for the current market, is $900 a good price for this Colt?

Seems reasonable to me. You could try and put in a lower offer to see if it's accepted.

That is what I am thinking. I have considered going in at $850 to see what he says. I will know sometime this week when he gets back in town.

I'd check some of the sales sites and compare the price.
I just traded a Sig P227 for a MT6601.

The one I am looking at buying is the earlier R6600. I already have a MH6601.

Just an update on the Colt AR15A2. It turns out that it was not a R6600 HBAR Sporter, rather a R6500 Sporter II. That was even better. I got it from the seller last night for a whopping $890.

This makes a great addition to the Colt part of my AR collection. This now gives me a 1977 Colt SP1 Sporter, 1981 Colt Sp1 Carbine, 1995 Colt MH6601 Sporter Match HBAR, 2008 Colt LE6920, 2013 Colt LE6920MP, and this Colt R6500 AR15-A2 Sporter II. I now have a total of 35 ARs with 34 of them being AR15s.

It does have a good patina, but it is not as brown as the lighting in that picture makes it out to be. I will have to take some more pics in natural light.

ETA: new pictures posted in the earlier post.
