Colt 6520. Used to be my favorite.

For $650 I would not have passed it up either.  Nice score!

Pull the top hand guard off. There will be a barrel MFG date near the FSB. That'll put you in the ball park.

No date. Read that early ones were not marked. Doesn't really matter.

That ballparks it pretty well then. You've got the 94 ban era markings and as far as I know they started dating them in 95

Looks like someone replaced the N1 stocks with the waffles.  But still a steal @ $650.  Some guys have all the luck

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

I'm just taking a stab, but it looks like it might have been used as a patrol carbine, given the marks on it.  Which also might be why the price was right.   But maybe not.  That would be really hard to pass up for that money.

I'd be really curious to find out how good it shoots.  The two colt skinny barrels I've had experience with were finnicky.   But then I also had a skinny barrel SAK and the thing shot really really well.  So...  the thickness of the barrel isn't really the issue.

I bought an excellent condition 6520 a few months ago for $750.  You got a pretty good deal, now clean it up and shoot it!

Eta: you can go on colts website and search the serial number which will give you date of manufacture.  With an LGC serial it's most likely circa post 1994.

Colt 6520.  Those were avail up until 3 or 4 years ago.  I wish I would have gotten one when CDNN had them for cheap.

Oh well, nice score!!

So now you've made me look for a N1 stock. Any differences?

ETA
Ordered a CAR stock from M & A parts.
The 6520 has a 4 position stock.

I bought my 6520 new from a Colt dealer in 2007 and has the same exact lower rollmarks. The stock is most likely the original and correct.

I also think the newer m4 stock is waaaaaaay more comfortable when shooting.  But that's just me.
