And in other news, ARMS Inc. brought the classic #16A mount back so there's a possibility I might pick up an Aimpoint and #16A for the time being. I definitely want an ACOG in my stable but if I kinda like the idea of having both to swap out, because this is one handy little carbine. So without further delay, I give you my version of a late '80s, early '90s Delta CAR-15. This is a blend between the CAR-15 featured in the old BF1942 video game mod Desert Combat, and what we know was carried in Mogadishu by TF Ranger. And for the record, I also have the AEM5 suppressor, but having had a 12.5" carbine setup previously using it, I decided I wanted something a little shorter and lighter while still maintaining a somewhat plausible concept clone based on the time-period. https://i.imgur.com/JMHXs5P.jpg In this photo, you can see where I shaved the bayonet lug. I also had to space the Weaver barrel mount down a little using a short piece of stainless round stock. I also replaced the socket-head screws (size 8/32" x 1.25") to mount it to the FSB like this. https://i.imgur.com/AIKfkhk.jpg https://i.imgur.com/8yJnIgH.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ZbwGv02.jpg View Quote Looks fantastic, bro. I've decided to build a 723 - have everything but a suppressor. I'm just going to run a Romeo 5 RDS on it, and screw anyone who thinks I should put some big heavy optic on it. I have to pin the flashhider though, and have been thinking about the whole Allen Engineering route vs Surefire. Not a 'pure' clone, so maybe a pinned Warcomp would make more sense. What do you think? |

@5pt56 or others with old aimpoints using the Leupold vertical split rings, what are you torquing them to?

I think out of the 2 that I've had the longest, 1 I had to move to 18 inch lbs after a long shooting day and the other hasn't moved off of 15 inch lbs and maintained its zero no questions asked. |

Do any of you gentlemen know whether the Surefire weaver M14 mount on my 660 will fit on a .750" barrel under the FSB? I know dremeling is required for the mount, but wasn't sure about barrel profile.

Do any of you guys know where I can find a Tail Cap for the SureFire 660 w/ pressure switch… Much appreciate

I’ve acquired the tough to find parts of this. Would a vinyl CAR stock be era correct or just a regular N1? Lock ring or castle nut? Slip ring or delta ring?

3x Ta33 Red Chevron. After owning the TA31, 11, 44 I have landed on the 33 being the best for my uses. I don’t shoot NTCH and the 33 has the best combination of weight, magnification, size, and (most importantly for me) eye relief Just so happens that it works great on a carry handle also. I drilled an extra hole in the carry handle so I could get the optic position and 2 bolts that my OCD required ***I saw a couple listed recently on the EE for a good price, around $700 I believe |

Many lifetimes ago I was a Rigger with 7th SFG(A) when they were still at Ft Bragg. Our CW4 was a former CAG guy and he would get us all kinds of unique training opportunities at SWC.
This particular time he got us on the SFAUC ranges and we got a shortened class on CQB. It consisted of one half day at the stress test range during which we got to shoot as much as we wanted to become familiar with our sub-guns. MP5SD, Swedish K, combat shotgun, and a few others I don't recall that we would be using during the training...There was a conex box on the range slam full of ammo and the instructor opened the door and said have at it. We shot for hours until our fingers were raw from reloading. We had brought our issued weapons with us but nobody was interested in those when an MP5SD was available, so we just laid them on the reload table and got busy with the SD action. Anyway, I had a camera with me and filmed some footage. I am trying to find that tape because it will have some shots of our issued Car15 rifles. This was during the same time as TF Ranger was taking place 93-94 time frame in a SOF unit so the equipment will be similar Turns out after the 3-4 days of outstanding training opportunity for a bunch of Riggers, we were rewarded with 2 days of weapons cleaning. Cleaning not only our weapons, but every damn weapon SFAUC range owned...It was a small price to pay for the unique opportunity and I would gladly do it again. Especially today when I would pay much more attention to the weapons. Also pictured is the Pro-Tec skateboard helmets we were issued. When they gave them to us they were shiny black. they also gave you a small piece of sandpaper to remove the gloss finish Rigger section from 7thSFG(A) I am top left in the photo. All 180 lbs of me Attached File Reload table where unfortunately you can't see our weapons Attached File Pro-Tec Attached File |

I was in process of joining TACP when 9/11 happened and my sign date was 9/24/01. We had M16 and M16A1, (no pictures dammit), for training 01-02 followed by A2s before our unit received brand new M4s in 2003. Then 2003-2017 i was able to experience the sighting evolution from M68 Aimpoint-EOTech-ACOG-Elcan. Uniform Evolution from Woodland-Choco Chip-DCU-ACU-ABU-OCP. I found 1 picture with A1's. ETA; No pictures of ACOG- Qualified with it and trained some with it but chose an AimPoint or an Elcan over the ACOG. EoTech was a backup sight deployed in case my Elcan crapped out. Never needed the EoTech and no pics. |

It would make it a very fast market to field acquisition though if true. TA01 had been out for a few years by 93. |
