This is new.  What is different about right handed and left handed kits? I'm stumped, plus that kit looks kind of familiar

The Bolt Carrier Group is left or right hand. Looks like Adams Arms

Just by looking at the OP rod can say that's an Adam's arms kit.

I can't tell by the picture, but I wonder if it's a 1 piece carrier or the "old" style striker block that replaced the gas key?

They use CMMG's piston system and have been doing so for several years.  The carrier is a one piece / tombstone style.  They are certainly decent uppers.

I don't think I have seen CMMGs kit. Looking at that pic it looked like my old AA kit

CMMG does not have a kit listed anymore.
MidWay USA shows the kit as "discontinued"

I found one here.....
