Hi,
Looking for suggestions on what is available that is proven and works well? Thank you. |

LWRC REPR
KAC ETA: Realized after I posted the OP mentioned piston. |

LWRC REPR KAC View Quote KAC isn't piston. I think your choices are: LWRC - Solid PWS Mk2 Series - Solid Adams Arms - New, unknown but probably good and on the GII platform Ruger SR762 - Solid Sig 716 - Solid POF - Hit or miss.... Some people love them and others have had problems. All I know about them is threads on here. Hogan - Seem to have a good reputation. Pretty much same type of design as POF. I'm sure there are others. |

I had a Sig 716. I now use a Ruger 762. Both very good rifles. Plenty accurate for deer and hogs, but I like the Ruger handgaurd better and also the midlength gas system.

Thoughts on the SCAR 17S in 7.62x51? View Quote They are great guns, but they are expensive and so in my opinion not worth the extra money. I also don't like the short rail on them and so you'd probably want to buy an aftermarket rail (expensive). Decide what you want to mount on your rifle and how far you want to mount it from the mag well, then go look at these rifles because you will see that there's not much room on some of them. If I were to buy one .308 piston gun right now it would be the PWS. |

But agree if I were in the market for a .308 piston ar PWS would be at the top. They make some quality rifles. |

View Quote I agree with this. The SIG and Ruger are both "best buys" in the piston AR-10 market with styles and features that make both rifles appealing. The main complaint for me with the SIG is the weight but that's somewhat the nature of the beast when dealing with AR-10's in general. I am also not a big fan of the carbine-length forend but that is overcome easily enough by using a Lancer carbon fiber forend. |

The 716 GEN2 is being revealed this week at SHOT, much lighter.

HK MR762
I have a 716 and really like it. Interested to see the lighter version as it is a bit of a pig. |

View Quote Looks like Sig has gone the same route as the GII, with an elongated AR15 receiver from the trigger guard forward. |

yes.
Also, when buying a modern rifle make sure you think about rail space and what you want to mount. Most modern rifles (colt, LWRC, PWS, AA...) are going to work fine, but where PWS and LWRC take the cake for me is the rail space. I never shoot my SCAR because i just don't like the way i have to hold it to shoot it. Its the other reason I don't like my Sig 716. If I were to get a .308 I would get a PWS or LWRC. I really like PWS gas system. |

Let us know if you have any questions! Probably been asked a hundred times but what is the eta on being able to get one of these? Also do you have any dealers of your products in the area around Reno Nevada. I really like the design of these rifles but I have never had a chance to look at one in person. |

If they work nicely with aero precision 308 lowers I think this just might become my long considered 308 rifle.
Well, once reviews come in of course. I am not an early adopter. I also have an odd ability to induce malfunctions in mechanical devices without really trying. Friends have handed me guns and they usually start malfunctioning. |
|
I am also looking at an ARAK31 upper. After shooting a friends ARAK21, what can you do but fall in love with it? I have never shoot a smoother AR-type rifle. I am saving to make my next upper an ARAK. If the Faxon Firearms guy is reading this.......what is the chance of seeing an 18 inch barrel on a 5.56 ARAK21 upper? That would be the cherry on top for sure!

If you can do that to an ARAK, I want to hire you as we can't break them. |

Hard to imagine many guns surviving that kind of a savaging. I don't treat weapons like that, just for the record. |
