long time reader but never made an account. anyway i have the aa mid length evo ultra light upper on a spikes lower. i've shot about 300 rounds and now it seems to be short stroking. after reading this forum i wanted to check and make sure the gas block didn't move or bend the rod. i tried to pull out the rod but it only will come out about half an inch and jams. what can i do to get this resolved?

Sounds like my exact build from a lower x upper perspective.
I would say that it's high unlikely the gas block moved. Adams stakes the block on their upper builds.
It's not unheard of for an op rod to lose its true. Rare, but not unheard of.
It also sounds like the spring is snagging on something. Work it around a bit while giving some firm tugs.

If you manage to get the op rod out front, find a flat table, lay it down and roll it. It should roll out smooth. Any wobble or hitch in its motion and you know the rod is bad.

Call AA and they send should send you a new one.

If you still can get the rod out, definitely give AA a call and they sort it out.

i finally got the rod out but with further inspection it the rod is fine and the gas block is too far forward. all the install stuff i seen says that it should be about 2 business cards to the stop and its about 5 or 6.

I assure you the problem is your email then.  Aro and I have gotten to know each other TOOOO well with my problem child pistol.  NOT AAs issues btw, he was just helping me with the build.  He's the man and will get you straightened out.

That's new. I have heard of the occasional gas block shift on the AA kit since it is screwed, but not on a staked gas block.

Time to take my shame...  yes, came into work today (under protest!) and just looked at my exchanges with Aro... they are ".net" just as you suspected.  My sincerest apologies.

Aro <[email protected]> copied straight from my email.  He really is a good guy though and will get you taken care of.  Most of the things I was working out with him had nothing to do with AA and he was still happy to help me and answered my mails promptly, often within minutes.
