Faxon Ultra-Light Bolt Carrier Groups
*** Click on the link below for ordering info and pricing *** Description: When looking at lightweight bolt carrier groups, we were unsatisfied with what the market had to offer. Seeing a capability gap, we set out to create a bolt carrier group that could live up to the GUNNER name with no compromise in strength or function. We set specifications that would allow no compromise: 1. Lightest Weight Possible (8.32 Ounces Complete, 6.24 Ounces Carrier & Key Only) 2. MIL-SPEC Materials & Finishes or Better! 3. Forward Assist Serrations 4. Compatible with Dust Covers 5. Maintains Full-Auto Trip Sear for full-auto and the new multi-stage trigger functionality 6. Looks Amazing Matching our barrels, we selected the QPQ method of Salt Bath Nitride for all the carriers components. By coating all parts, the carrier's natural slickness is increased markedly requiring less gas and pressure to operate. Further, the QPQ SBN process seals components against corrosion while making them fantastically wear resistant. As a testament of our trust, the carriers are all laser-engraved with the Faxon Shield after passing all Quality inspections. Detailed Spec: Bolt: •9310 Tool Steel Construction (Stronger than C158) •Full MIL-SPEC Heat Treatment •Shot Peened to MIL-SPEC •Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) •Back of Lugs Chamfered for Reliability •Spring, Insert, & "Crane" O-Ring Installed •QPQ - Salt Bath Nitrided Extractor: •S7 Tool Steel Construction •Fully Heat Treated •Shot Peened Per MIL-SPEC •QPQ - Salt Bath Nitrided Carrier & Key: •Carrier: MIL-SPEC 8620 Steel Material •Key: 4140 Steel Material •Fully Heat Treated •Forward Assist Serrations •M16 (FULL-AUTO) Compatible •Grade 8 Fasteners •Fully & Properly Staked Key, Permatex Sealed •QPQ - Salt Bath Nitrided •Weight w/ Key (Not Bolt or any Pins): 6.32 Ounces Cam Pin: •4140 Pre-Hardended Steel Material *** CLICK HERE to take me to the Rainier Arms website *** |

Those look beautiful really.
Combined with the JP SCS, and they should make an excellent set-up. |

I like the looks of it and the fact that it is forward assist compatible but being old fashioned I prefer a hard chrome liner over anything else.

I wish there was an option for C158 bolts, or even purchasing the carrier only.

Yes, we know its "Mil-Spec" but its not as strong as 9310, which is the most critical pieces for us internally. The carrier only will come shortly! Need to get production up, but its going to be an option! |

I think I am becoming a Faxon fanboy!
You guys make amazing stuff. The question is the timing in a CQB build (10.5" barrel). What would be the optimum buffer combination? H2? Adjustable gas block? As we know, it's all about the gas! |

As a general rule for any carbine gas barrel we offer, the heavier buffer will help. |

Whew! I was pondering picking one up during intro pricing but was taking my sweet time about it. I log in to Rainier arms about 15 mins ago and it says there is ONE left in stock. Snagged it... logged back in, confirmed, product is out of stock now. Looks like a nabbed the very last one. heh heh. This is going to work great in my 10.5" lightweight SBR build.
Not sure what buffer / gas set up I'm gonna use yet.. I'll figure it out though. Tax stamp is gonna take 3+ months anyway... Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Any idea when more might arrive? Same question and will it still have the intro price of $200 when it comes back? Standing by to place my order.... No. The BCG's will revert to their standard retail and MAP pricing. The deal was only for the first introductory run. Thank you for your patronage! |

I can think of one order where the intro price should apply...

No. The BCG's will revert to their standard retail and MAP pricing. The deal was only for the first introductory run. Thank you for your patronage! Understood.... Any idea on when the carrier only option will come up for sale? I was planning on building with a Sharps Relia-bolt any how but figured for the $200 it was worth it to have an extra bolt in the parts bin. |

soooo......anyone have any feedback on these? Im considering replacing my Daniel Defense carrier group with this to save some weight but dont want to invite any potential issues

Quoted: Melonite QPQ is the way of the future. I've had coated (NiB) gun parts flake off, BCG's included. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Any plans on a NIB or NP3 version? Melonite QPQ is the way of the future. I've had coated (NiB) gun parts flake off, BCG's included. Agreed. The future. There are three ways to nitride steel: a) gas nitride, b) salt bath nitride, and c) plasma nitride. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nitriding and compare with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anodizing In the SBN process, you can dip it once or twice..the two-time dip is called QPQ for "quench polish quench"..that is, you dip it then polish then dip it again (I believe that is what she said). "Melonite" is a trade name for this generic QPQ process, kinda sorta like "xerox" is a trade name for photocopying. I hear good things about the company that Faxon uses to do its nitriding, I forget but its in Ohio, unless they changed by now. Having said that......I got one question, why are we still anodizing aluminum receivers? You can nitride aluminum (but its slightly diff details in the process, than steel), but I don't know if it is preferable over anodizing...I think it would be but idk. Anyway, don't respond to this. Off topic. Back on topic, I have become a believer that all steel parts on all firearms should nitrided...I mean why not? If I could nitride several hundred parts for the same price as nitriding one part..I'd do it. And bbls benefit the most from this bc they are the first steel part to wear out...resists throat erosion against several times as many shots. In fact, I remember when CTD did a test of shooting-out multiple barrels with tens of thousands of rounds. They should redo that test w a comparison of a) nitride cro-moly b) nitride stainless c) plain cro-moly and d) plain stainless. But they'd hafta check the actual RC hardness of each bbl first, and then do multiple barrels of each type and each barrel would have to be otherwise identical...lots of time and money to do that test effectively. But I'd like to see it. I'd also like to be the first human to fly to mars. |

if you follow the thread in their industry forum, you'd see that they are wrapping up laser engraving as of a few days ago and they should be ready to ship very soon...
|
|
Dealers have taken all available inventory, but they shipped to them last week.
Yes, that combo will work well. I use a similar in my own rifles. |
|
Fingers crossed! Hopefully Rainier was one of those dealers....
