249 Saker (249-S) Available NOW! The BE Meyers 249F Flash Hider has been around for a long time: it was originally designed for the US Navy's SWCC along with a family of flash hiders to fit everything from 5.56, to 7.62 and 50 Caliber machine guns... but SEALs soon noticed its immensely superior flash suppression to the A2 flash hider. Its patented technology has remained a top performer for years, serving on Tier 1 weapon systems for the Navy, Army, and friendly allied nations SOF ever since. In a 2010 evaluation by Joint Special Operations Command, the BE Meyers 249F was found to be top ranked. It is still active in military supply chains and active use in the field to this day. With the growth and widespread adoption of suppressors, it was only natural that the BE Meyers technology be adapted for suppressor compatible use. The new 249 Saker is the first BE Meyers flash hider with overt suppressor compatibility. These were originally announced at SHOT show for early March release, but with two top tier engineering teams from BE Meyers and Silencerco working hard on these to maximize performance, they ran into some delays. We've gotten word that these on on track for shipment in a few weeks though, so we thought we'd get the word out on em! These flash hiders and suppressor mounts have a number of highly desirable features.

This is very relevant to my new suppressor interests. I like this much better than the flash hider they make. I'm not as concerned with the tuning fork noise.

And for folks who don't like the tuning fork resonance, BE Meyers machined a channel into their tines just like the 249F has: allows you to add wire or an O-ring to close the cage and eliminate the "ping" sound |

It is the same length as the 249F, but has a deeper thread depth, so shims are not required for use with barrels. It brings 13.7" barrels from WO/Ballistic Advantage to 16.000" As a result, I highly, highly recommend using a high quality shim to bring barrel length to a hair above 16" when pinning and welding! I'll verify with Noveske 13.7 Infidel barels and WO/Micro MOA 13.7" barrels when I get the chance!

I'm definitely interested in seeing how it runs head to head with the trifecta. I've seen first hand how the 249 works and I run the Trifecta myself, but head to head is a different story when they are together.

Had a chance to talk to the engineers at BEM about it, and learned a lot about the science of flash suppression!
There were a lot of subtle changes in the production models over the prototype: will definitely be comparing the production model 249 Saker to other common suppressor mount/flash hiders out there. Pretty sure the 249F is still going to be the king for overall flash suppression, but this should be close behind it. |

I might pick one of these up for my infidel. I'm going to take some measurements and see if it will be legal. Any idea of how much the device weighs? Also is it on the loud or quite side when shooting with it?

Will have pics and measurements when the smith is done with it. No real changes to the sound when shooting with it IMHO, but then again that's what my ears are telling me with ear pro on. |

It is also worth noting that the shorter the barrel, the more important the quality of the FS. Longer barrels can get away with things the shorter barrels can't.
