We partnered with Ballistic Advantage since they are cranking out some of the most affordable and high quality barrels on the market to develop a 13.7" barrel in their proprietary Hanson barrel profile.  Their goal was to develop a lightweight barrel feel without any of the typical drawbacks of lightweight barrels like barrel whip.  The Hanson profile is a unique "shoulder-less" design that makes for a handsome and relatively straight barrel profile and is said to improve barrel harmonics.  

A mil-spec .750" Gas Block Journal and a 1/2x28 thread at the muzzle make the Hanson barrels are a plug and play solution.  With superior surface treatment and superb manufacturing, Ballistic Advantage's barrels will deliver on performance.

One of our specialties at Weapon Outfitters is crafting uppers based around the 13.7" barrel.  With specific muzzle devices (like the B.E. Meyers M249F , you can bring a 13.7" barrel to over the 16" minimum legal length without a NFA SBR tax stamp.  At 13.7" Hanson barrel will give you a light, handy, and accurate little repeating blaster.  We're offering options with and without gas block.  There's savings to be had with the Ballistic Advantage pinned gas block but if you are running a specific type of rail or want a Front Sight Base up front then pick up the barrel without the gas block.

Those are designed to make a 14.5" barrel legal when pinned.  BE Meyers and Noveske make muzzle devices that would make this a legal oal. I'm sure there are other muzzle devices which would work, but those are the two that jump to mind first.

And yup, the 13.7" was originally conceived to bring the Noveske KX3 (and now KX5) to legal length when pinned/welded.  Our 18D gun nerd friend discovered that his trusty BE Meyers 249F was also long enough to get the job done... and looks really cool too.

We've also found that most suppressor mounts (Surefire, AAC, Silencerco) are all pretty long, and will make a 14.0" longer than 16", so we carry the Ballistic Advantage 14.0 as well

I did a 5.45 project way back in the day, but abandonned it because the barrels at the time would burn out in no time.  Looks like the market has caught up!

Currently: a FSB isn't possible, but will talk to Ballistic Advantage and see the feasability of a limited FSB run.

Will also get a few more non gas block models in stock:  the gas block included version is just such a good deal I opted to get just a few of the stripped barrel variants for folks with specific gas block needs made.  Will up the count for the next run!

For a close shave build, the Ballistic Advantage 14.0" is the way to go with most muzzle devices.

It wasn't until I got a brass rod and started measuring my builds that I noticed most 14.5" builds were needlessly long.  14.0" and most suppressor mounts and brakes will get you there.
