Came out of Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska. Undecided if I want to try and remove the writing or leave it "as is"

That's a cool looking rubber ducky.  I'm in the process of two rubber ducky projects to make them look nicer.

I REALLY want an A1 (or A2 w/ 20-rounder) rubber duck to go above the mantle.

Precisely.  They're usually cast rubber/plastic copies of M16s, with a few real parts on them.  Some have metal barrel sections and FSBs, some are entirely plastic.  A few people around here have managed to score some rarer retro parts off of them.
