Did the receiver end plates change over the years or preatty much stay the same? Retro would just be a gray colored one? thanks

It's the piece that holds the spring and detent for the buffer tube in place. The piece before the castle nut.

Stayed pretty much the same.  Some slight variations, as far as the indented part, but all pretty much the same.  Some early (1980s) aftermarkets were blued and had a round indented part instead of oblong.
