Just browsing GB and came across this:

RRA LOWER

Anyone notice the take down and pivot pins? Nicely dimpled on one side. RRA lists the pins separately for purchase on their site. Might be worth buying a couple and see what you get.

Is it my imagination, or does the dimple looks to be a little large?

The dimple is different size and depth.  I will post a photo for comparison soon.

I bought an LPK from them and my pins have dimples, is this something that is desired?

Yea Kind of....With the current market at $50 for a set of original dimpled pins. Post pictures of yours for a comparison.

This is a set of dimpled pins.  The dimpling on the pivot pin is much deeper than the RRA photo....and both divots are the same size.  The takedown pin looks like it could be at least passable, although not 100% authentic (depth), but I think the pivot pin won't work (depth/shape/size)

Was there a function behind it? Like a bullet tip for takedown? Or just the original design?

With a lathe in the garage, I'm tempted to c/d an extra set of pins and see how it looks.

Do you need dimensions and approximate depth?  My guess is that the dimpling was similar in function. ...although they had the dimpled sight assembly, which you wouldn't use a bullet for.

Jon

What the heck, with their LPKs on sale for $52 and all other parts on -18% I bought an LPK and extra set of pins.  I am going to use a Fulton Arms slick side upper  anyway so it will not be a "perfect" 604 build anyway; but it will be close enough.

The dimple on the pivot pin looks to be about as large as some of the 601 pivot pins. For under $5 each they seem to be a pretty good deal.

But they are just dimpled on one side, right?

Yep. At least that's the way mine are.

Funny thing is I picked up a no name lpk off amazon that has the same divot in the pins.
