Little by little I'm getting there.

The top receiver is weather for the BFPU look Both will go on uppers marked CK with C MP B Barrels.
Jason at Ident Marking Services did a excellent job (469) 464-5500

I will be useing all the COLT full auto parts for authenticity, they will be modified to semi auto for legality.

Appears like x-mas has come early.  Good luck on your builds.  Take your time,  chase all the holes in your lowers with a drill bit before assembly and lay all your parts out on a nice clean white towel.  A little CLP goes a long way.  Sad thing is they build a lot quicker than gathering the pieces.  Hope they all shoot great. Put the disconnector spring in correctly.  Big end in the disconnector.  This is a very popular mistake.  Never had it happen but when installing the take down pin turn around an extra pin and push it in from the backside to capture the spring and detent (don't use the slot) and push the take down pin you're gonna use in from the correct side using slot.  That is if you haven't made a tool for such.  Would really lick crawling around on carpet looking for a spring and detent. Make sure you screw the buffer tube in correctly so it doesn't come apart while using the rifle.  Think that covers it.  Can't wait to see the finished products.

Use painters green tape or even electrical tape to protect the receiver from marring, especially when putting the bolt catch pin in. Take your time and don't do it while drinking - although you'll want to start as soon as you're done! Nice looking receivers. What did the engraving run you altogether? (you can pm me if you don't want to post that here)

ETA: Do it over a tile floor if possible, not a carpeted floor. Ask me how I know. (I always buy extra detents & springs JIC)

Love what you've done!

Wrapping your electric stove drip-pans in tin foil is an excellent way to ease cleaning off those stubborn, burned-in stains!

Seriously, Nice builds!

Keep telling yourself that!

I was fully intending to sell off the LM upper with the CMP CHROME BORE barrel I bought for the port door and sight but now I'm thinking it will make a nice XM177E2!

That barrel is going on my XM16E1 or probably my later 603 because I want to BFPU the E1 and I'd rather scrub the finish off the FNMI barrel than the original Colt barrel.

I know how you feel, I think a trip to the engraver is in store for my old lowers. Those two builds turned out great, the engraving finishes them nicely.

So this is where you've been. Those are two very nice looking rifles and that engraving is fabulous. Enjoy!

Were the lowers finished when you sent them to Ident or were they in the white?  Thanks!

EL_TIRADOR Jason will do them any way in the white or already finished in XM he does great work

Im sure they have to be stripped in order to be engraved right?

..i believe i can have the receivers engraved as is, and then just send them to victor to be reanodized.

If i was buying new receivers i would get them in the "white", engraved, and then anodized..

I don't think NDS does in the white lowers anymore

Nice builds.  I almost hit the right click to copy the image of your m16 lower to keep as a reference for the Vietnam era rifle pictures I keep, until I realized it was an NDS engraved by IDENT.

True story: My FFL dealer received an NDS lower for me that had been engraved by IDENT with the Colt / Armalite markings.  He asked me if it should be filled out on the paperwork as an Armalite

From my perspective the NDS / IDENT / US Anodizing is the holy trinity of retro rifles.

Well 2011 is almost gone,  today I finished build number three.

I think I'll take a year off from buying and devote 2012 to shooting only.

Tomorrow is Christmas so Merry Christmas and a Happy new year to everyone in the Retro Forum.
