Very nice pile of old iron there, Sir, thanks for sharing them. I missed the afordabilty window on Pythons myself. |

1943 Colt Commercial to Military Transfer This is one of 6,575 Colt commercial Government Model pistols that were transferred to satisfy the government contract in late '42, early '43. Ordnance Dept. allowed commercial markings to remain. All commercial serial numbers were crudely peened over and new gov't. issued serial numbers were struck, as was the "Government Model" legend restamped to read "United States Property". The ghost of the original commercial SN on the slide shows it to be in the correct serial range for the transferred pistols. Swartz safety components were removed from the commercial pistols, but the Swartz safety cutouts remain. Commercial slide roll stamp right side. Commercial slide roll stamp left side. Swartz safety hole in receiver. Swartz safety cutout in slide. Peened and restamped slide SN Peened and restamped receiver SN. |

Some (all) of those there that I would really like to have. I better stop reading this thread. I usually don't think of myself as a pistol guy, but when I look at a nice group like that I know its not really true. I just don't own many. That can always change. |

My wee 9mm collection:
Canadian marked Inglis High Power, don't know the date, been thru FTR. 1951 Colt Commander, not original grips, unfortunately. 1969 Browning High Power 1970 Smith & Wesson Model 39 The Commander shoots like any other alloy Commander I ever had or shot, minute of bathtub. The 69 BHP is fairly accurate, given the tiny sights and my aging eyes. But the Smith, that thing is a laser! " /> |

Question for imarangemaster-
How is the trigger pull on your Model 59? I have one and love it, but the trigger has a silly amount of take-up, even in single action. Is this typical for the Model 59? I've never handled another one to compare it with... |

Yeah THAT'S a purty one fer sure! For a 1911A1 that is! Here's my old girl. I probably already posted her before. She's a little long in the tooth. 97 years old! She was born in 1918 and missed the big dance but she got reworked at Anniston Arsenal for WWII. They parkerized her but were kind enough to leave all of her innards correct except the barrel. Even her wood is original! |

I've been pretty lucky with finding what I have for decent prices in most cases.
In the pic are: 1914 Springfield Armory 2 1918 Colts, one with a WW2 replacement barrel 1924 Kongsberg Colt 2 Remington Rands 1943 Colt 1945 Colt Ithaca Mixmaster Colt frame with a US&S slide I'm still on the lookout for a Remington UMC, a real US&S in my price range and a Savage and then I'll be done. |

I know where one is but it's been parked and they want $2100 for it
I never even looked at it enough to see it that's the only problem or even it's an arsenal job but figured for that price I don't care. My Springfield doesn't have a lot of finish left on it but at least what's there is original. It does have one wrong grip panel and the wrong magazine though. |

There is only "not original" or "reproduction" or "after market"! Interchangeability is AWESOME! Blast away my friend! I shoot mine when ever it blows my skirt up to do so!
