+1

M-614: if you list it on an auction site my recommendation is to post a lot of pictures. Early SP1's had a lot of variation of different parts used and small details can affect value.

Yep

Little things like that rare firing pin retaining pin, etc are things that collectors are going to want to see

Also have a second rifle.... Nodak 601 lower with original brown 601 furniture (stock, grip and handguard).  The upper is a VP marked 1:12 early 603 (cast FSB).  Repro Edgewater buffer by JT as well.   Only the furniture is original 601 on this one.

Got a couple more items I'd like to add:

GI M16A1 replacement barrel new with wick still in bore: SAK MP CHROME BORE. Made by Saco-Lowel who made m-60's.

Colt model 653 C MP CHROME BORE 14.5 inch barrel. Still sealed in the mylar package. Purchased this from a member BUBBAGUNS about 15 years ago if memory serves.

Thanks,

Larry

Also downsizing collection and would like to pass the SP1 and these barrels fairly for members here.

flat-top bushies are 400-600 typically.  earlier A1 or A1 upper versions go for more.

Edit:  nevermind, it's getting cerakoted.

M16A1 upper that is a brass or bronze color.  Looks unused, the seller said it was NOS.  I can't see any markings on it.  I put on top of 2 CH marked uppers for the pics, both grey and a black one at the top.  I oiled it and scrubbed with soapy water and it didn't change it.
Is it worth more un-messed with?  Otherwise I'll norell's or cerakote it or maybe make an Elisco clone lower with a worn finish.
I remember seeing similar ones, but can't remember the story on them.  Any insight is appreciated.

Hello, I recently inherited this colt AR-15 sp1. ~5000 serial. It's from my grandfather and I remember he said he bought it while he was in the Navy. Other than that I don't know anything about it. It has a bunch of accessories and some paperwork. Any help on value would be greatly appreciated.

Value of a Colt 727 parts kit? I know Apex has some listed but I’m not sure if they’re actually selling at their asking price.

Apex is a little high for worn kits.

Yours looks decent, I’d wager $1,200-$1,300. Based solely on the sum of its parts. May go higher on GB as we all know how that can go lol.

Yeah, sounds about right to me. That's in the ballpark of what I paid when I sourced one that came from Atlantic - looks just like this one, same style lower receiver cut.

I do think this could go a bit higher on GB. There still seems to be a lot of interest in the retro AR area, and having a real kit will grab some attention.

Bro, the early ones are collectors pieces to the right people.

I searched completed auctions on gunbroker.

Here's a '68 that went for 4.5k, someone wanted it enough to hit the BIN button https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1007881272

Another '68 that went for 3k which I think is more reasonable: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/995498077

There's more but you can search gunbroker completed auctions just as easily as I can.

I did look at GB but couldnt figure out how to find the completed ones, thanks. Your link showed me where I messed up. The guy told me it was an A2, that's what I was hoping for since I was issued one in 2001 thru 2005-6. It's far from that obviously. I've got 7 hours of labor tied up in this thing

Yeah, you gotta hit the "advanced search" link then completed auctions tab.

Hopefully whatever you did was worth about $400 / hr.

Sight unseen we agreed on 800.00 after he initially said 600.00

I put a heater core in his Dodge Ram truck, he put the rifle in my office and I didnt open the box until after I got home.

Doing those jobs is worth every stinking penny of 400/hr but I'll comp him something next time he's in the shop.

The value of SP-1's can vary wildly depending on when it was made and if it retains the original Colt parts.

You can get a start via determining from the serial number when it was made: https://www.ar15.com/forums/ar-15/-/123-304266/? and looking at gunbroker for SP1's from that year.

I saw one at the Tulsa gun show back in April. First one I’ve ever seen in person. No clue what they are worth but are definitely not commonplace. The one I saw was bundled with other parts so I don’t have a value to go by. Maybe someone else can help.

ETA.

This is the one that was brought to me. Yours are nicer.

I owned two “sets” of these.  I still have one set, and the other I traded to another member on here, and its picture ended up in the “Black Rifle Book”.  One set I purchased on Gun Broker as “two steel 20 round AR-15 mags” for $100 because nobody else bid on it!  My guess on actual value would be in the $1000+ range for a “set”

I built this using one of the Colt 603 kits that were floating around back around ~10 years ago. Everything is USGI except for the barrel and lower. The barrel is correct profile but I don't remember the make. The lower is 603 style from McKay industries. Wondering the value.

Retro value is all about details, it's really the value of the sum of the parts. Can't tell much from that pic.

The whole rifle is built from a Colt M16a1/603 kit minus the barrel and lower receiver. Can you be specific about what details you would need? I know there's variation between models, but this kit was just a regular Colt m16a1/603 kit, nothing "special" to it (no random 601, 602 partson it).

I figure it may be worth more parting out. I've been out of the game for awhile. What does a Colt m16a1/603 kit go for these days?

So it's a 603 upper and parts?  It's more aftermarket than Colt.  Given that, value is probably about $1k all in (603 upper is $300-450ish max but the market is down right now).

Yes, the two most important parts.
