A2 w/ milspec pivot hole is good.  complete probably $450 range.  no bayo lug hurts it a little but it is the pencil barrel which is a plus.

preban colts even in ban states unless it's a highly desirable config rarely break $1100-$1200.

Another pre-ban...LOL

Colt Sporter Target model, serial number ST0298xx,no box or case, does have a scope.

Round count is supposedly 450 rounds or so,but you know how that goes.

I am wondering if any interest would be there for a genuine Colt M16 20" A1 upper, all origional without BCG, but including all origional furniture (A1 grip/stock/handguards). All items in extremely good condition, possibly near Vietnam era.

Yes, there will definitely be interested buyers for an original M16 parts kit. Post some pics and we'll help you figure out a rough price range and the vintage of the upper.

Hey everyone need some help. Friends friend got paid for a job with a COLT SP1 serial SP242**. He's asking $600 and I havent gotten a chance to go see it in person but I have a few pics. I'm thinking at that price unless everything is off its worth that in parts alone. Images coming. Again don't know the condition of the finish or bore/really anything from these pics, just trying to get a wild estimate in pricing

yeah you can't go wrong with $600 for that one.  assuming everything is correct.  it's worth $1100-$1200.  even if everything is wrong, the preban lower is worth $550-$600 to someone in NY.

Agreed. I think right around $1k, looks like it has a little wear, but overall pretty nice from what I can see.

I wish I got paid in SP1's!!

seriously me too! So picked the rifle up for $600, bore looks brand new, the gas rings on the bolt are still shiny, its like the thing has never been shot. Its a pencil barrel and has no forward assist, standard everything else from what I can make of it. $11-1200 still a decent estimate? *also, the bolt does have forward assist notches, but appears to have colt marking on the BCG and bolt, any thoughts on originality?

My unfired 22xxx serial # rifle also has the notched bolt carrier. They are original.  Prices vary by region. $800 to $1000 catches a lot of the SP1s around here.  But $600?  Yeah, that was a smoking deal.

I am a SP1 Newbie, so I don't know much about SP1 prices.
I have a 1980 SP1.

I need a price check for a 1965 SP1.
All original, all matching, excellent condition, original manual, no box.
Just a general range, would be fine.

Thanks for any replies.

1965 should be a mid 4 digit range.  if you put it  up for auction and the condition is truly excellent, i can see it sell somewhere in the $1600-$1900 range.

I bought this a few years ago. It is on a demilled barrel.
the markings on the barrel are: SAK MB CHROME BORE. ( IT MAY HELP TO IDENTIFY THE DATE)
I may not need it and some one else may need one. The sight post and parts are not there.

What is a fair market price for them?

Thanks
Ron

by demil barrel, you mean the barrel is cut and you're just asking about the front sight base right?  if so, a complete .625 FSB is worth $25-$40 depending on completeness and condition.

Refinished 601 uppers in the arsenal wrap have been selling for $200 + ship lately, so I think you're right in the ballpark.

Nice upper. With the forging flash on the front AND rear, plus the engraved sight arrows leads me to think H&R. There is a possibility that it is a GM, but it is difficult to tell some of them apart, and the consensus around here lately is that the engraved sight arrows on A1 uppers is an H&R thing.

It looks to be in decent shape, a little freckling on the port door and some minor scuffs. I'd think you could get $125-$150 for it, it is a desirable and unique configuration for someone building an H&R M16A1 clone. Thank you for sharing!

Not what he's asking for it IMO. Very nice grey A2, but it's still high IMO. By about $1000. You can get some pretty sweet stuff for as much as he's asking. Just my .02

Reposting from my locked thread for reference:

What's a like new M231 barrel worth?
What's one that has been modified worth?

Response from Augee:
Very widely variable. I've seen them run (ETA: "sell") anywhere from $250 to $600.

A lot of it will depend on the buyer knowing what it is, caring what it is, and wanting it bad enough to pay for it, and therefore quite hard to fix a price on it. They come up rarely enough in a wide enough range of prices that the value is literally "what someone will pay."

Depending on what you mean by "hacked up," it may not fetch much if it can't, or would be extremely difficult to restore to original condition. Other than being rare to collectors of such things, the M231 barrel has very few features to recommend it -

It's around 15.8" in length, so it's technically an SBR or pistol barrel without a pinned muzzle device in the wise eyes of the ATF

It's super heavy profile

It's 1/12 twist

While an interesting project -an M231 build is a pretty daunting build even for a lot of dedicated clone builders, parts are rare and difficult to find and expensive to acquire and can literally take years to collect, and the end result of a "correct" build is a heavy AR pistol that can use only a very limited range of ammunition, has a receiver extension too short to effectively "mount," and has no sights whatsoever. To which the simple (if you can find one - not so simple) act of adding a stock will cost you six months and $200 to SBR over a matter of .2" and produce a lower which you basically can't use for anything else, only to be continually teased by the fact that it's a semi-auto clone of an open bolt machine gun notorious for being able to fire 1,600 rounds per minute.

Honestly - if the barrel didn't come with the gas block already, I would almost say they'd be practically worthless, because I don't think I've ever seen a gas block/collar sold separately anyways.

With the collar though, in good condition, it could probably fetch a pretty penny.

Then again, braceman did take the measurements off of mine... I wonder what he plans to do with those?

Honestly, though, if you were going to go with an aftermarket collar, I'd almost say it's be worth it to get an aftermarket barrel, too. Without the ROF of the open bolt, all that extra meat is wasted, and almost no one will be able to tell you added .2", but your wallet will sure know you saved $200.

~Augee

I traded into an M16A1 LM upper, with a large button fwd assist, Flat slip ring, flat HG ring, A2 port door, late C marked FSB and a C MP Chrome Bore. Looks like a recent rebuild, and is in great shape

. Inside of receiver looks like new. What's it worth?

LM is a contract replacement upper, a lot were found on commercial rifles in the 80s.  the barrel is worth $225-$250 so i'd figure $350-$375 on the upper without the bolt carrier group.

slings don't tend to be valued to highly.  even the 601 M1 cotton slings can be found in the $15-$20 range all day.  i would guess if it's mint, somewhere btw $15 and $25.

I was lucky enough to buy a full auto converted SP1 carbine, SN SP185xxx. It's been sitting in a safe for a long time.  If the original parts are actually collectible I'll take care of them, if they aren't anything special I'll shoot the hell out of them.  If y'all could give me some values on the parts I'll be better able to decide what to do.
Two position carbine tube.

Hello all, I just picked up this upper from a guy I worked with. I don't see any marks on it which is making me wonder what it is.... it is just like a colt upper I had in the past but is just missing the marks. It is in good shape but has the usual scratches on the finish from being used. Any ideas what it might be worth? Thanks!

Edit: Can slightly see what was some type of mark stamped where my colt was but is pretty much gone....
