Go away, I hate you!

Really though congrats on the sweet rifle. I think you may even make UXB a little jealous with that. How does it run?

Heres my first completed retro build. Its as close as you can get to a 653 without a tax stamp.

The lighting plays tricks on the color, and makes it look better than it really is. The lower is an NDS, and the rest is varied shades of grey, and black . I plan on sending this one off to victor soon to anodize the aluminum, and park the steel. Next to come off the line will be a GUU-5P.

Nice looking build. I think this must be the best build for those of us in Illinois. I did almost the same build right down to the NDS lower (which isn't installed yet)and upper that needs refinishing. Is your barrel 16" + flash hider? I did mine with 14.7" barrel and pinned flash hider so, it's a little closer to original without a non-existent Illinois tax stamp.

Thanks the barrel is a 16" + hider chrome lined 1/9 from Del-Ton. Illinois leaves little options for carbine builds sadly. I really wanted to do a XM177 E1, but there is just no way I could make it look right. i'm doing the GUU-5P next since I have the parts laying around to finish it (minus lower Mike were still waiting on the partial fence ). I think I will need to do a 601 so I can have the entire AR lower series.

That's too funny, I also wanted to do an XM177E2 build but, the extra barrel length we must have in IL just bothers me. I would GLADLY pay $200.00 for the tax stamp to be able to build either an XM177 or XM177E2 and have it be the correct length. I've seen some examples of 16" XM177E2 builds that look pretty convincing and I still might do one if I can talk a buddy of mine into machining a moderator with a little extra length.

glockfan45 check your IM.

Thats cool, man! My grandparents have an old banjo like that that my grandfather's father played in a band in the '20s or so. It's HEAVY as heck but really pretty.

I gotta say, though, I'd take your XM over the banjo

I would probably trade that XM for your Grandparents banjo if you ever gain custody of it.

I don't know if any left RIA as xm-177 style shorties......they used Sendra A1 style lowers.....

I have a Sendra lower with the RIA stamp on it.

Not sure what I'm going to make of it.

Broach is the Retro spelling.  Spelling changed to "brooch" in 1600.

Are we lookin at 9mm guns now too?

I guess the only way to make it more "retro" would be to have a slick side, large pin lower and A1 PG, but I like it just the way it is.

My theory on this is an early USAF lower with an ex Army 653 upper from the post Vietnam era. This justifies the forward assist and lack of a brass deflector. (in my mind anyway)

-RRA lower receiver
-RRA bolt, carrier, and charging handle
-RRA lower parts kit
-RRA CAR handguards
-RRA buffer and spring
-2 pos CAR stock from the EE
-A1 grip from the EE
-Colt C/H A1 upper from CDNN
-YES, I NEED AN M4 BARREL

I’m glad somebody else is doin the GUU thing.

I love these little guns. And there’s a lot of different variation in em.

Got the upper on mine complete, still hoping to find an inexpensive PWA A1 lower for the build, but will probably  go with the NDS XM16E1 lower, just having a hard time dealing with "spud" on the lower.

Thanks man You have yours together yet?

LOL it was a thread on..some board, cant remember. Anyways some guy in Central FL had a clump of bees (about the size of a basketball) on his kid's swingset in the backyard. They threw a baseball at it and it knocked out a clump of them and they just swarmed right back to the same spot. Anyways, they finally brought out a metal tub or something and put newspapers, rags, and gasoline in it and lit it on fire and killed all the bees . One of the captions for the pictures was "MOTHAF*CKIN BEES ON A MOTHAF*CKIN SWINGSET"

And the 2nd thing is "The Right To Keep and Bear Arms" in Russian

LOL when I put the 3 prong on there instead of the moderator, it probably COULD fit under my pillow!

And yes I have. It's not in it's final form yet (need an NDS lower), but this is how it stays until I get a BCG for my M4 upper

And thanks! I'm happy with it

I put this together to weigh it for another thread that was promptly buried, and it is now wearing a 20" barrel with 3-prong, but I got a kick out of this picture.

651 clone tips the scales at and even six pounds.  Talk about a light rifle!

My apologizes to the retro purists. Upper and handguards off of an old Colt M16A1. CMMG 10.5 barrel, A1 Flash suppressor. DoubleStar lower.

This is about as retro as I get.
