Hello everyone,

I am lookin to get a 300 blackout upper and was ready to pull the trigger on the Radical Arms 8.5 upper with the hybrid rail. Well, once I started digging I noticed that there were lots of complaints with Radical Arms in the way of quality control. I have my own BCG and charging handle already and was wondering if those were the issues with the RA brand. So I then started to look around at other companies. I've considered PSA but what they have size wise that I want has a 1/7 twist, and I'm looking for 1/8. Then I stumbled upon the CBC industries company and got really excited at seeing reviews. The deeper I looked the reviews went from "awesome" to "hmmm interesting". I checked the Better Business Beaureu and they have a D rating. So I guess what I'm asking is,

I need recommendation on a company that has a

Pistol length 300 blackout barrel, 1/8 twist, and reliable.

Please, educate me,

Thanks much

What's wrong with 1/7 twist?  Your barrel is only going to be 8.5 inches long, the more twist the better IMHO.

I was only lookin at the 1/8 twist for running sub loads. From the reading I did the magic number for 300 aac is 1/8.

Good to know, thank you!

Why not build one, if you already have your BCG and Charge handle, you could build one for a couple of hundred dollars, that way you would get exactly what you want.

My radical 10.5 .300blk upper has been great. I have had it for over a year and have 300 or so rounds through it. They have figured out the problems they were having. I would advise against a whole firearm though. They use the cheapest possible lpk and have had trigger issues.

Just bought a complete 8.5" pistol from them, put a bcm bolt in it and it's been perfect. There was an issue with the original bolt but they replaced it under warranty hassle free.

My buddy is running a CBC 5.56 16" upper w/FN bcg, runs great, seems like a nice upper for the money.

I have a RF 10" 7.62x39 upper with an AIM bcg, it's been good to me and the accuracy is great. For $200 I'd buy another.

Also have two PSAs in .300blk, the 16" is 1/8 and the 8" is 1/7. I've shot 125s, 150s & 220s thru both and I don't see any difference in the twist rate.

I did a 10.5 inch pistol from Black Rain Ordnance. I enjoy it, just not the money spent on shooting 300 blackout. Look into their products.

Everything about it is quality and one of my favorite AR's.

I second the build it advice. I bought most of my upper parts online and when it came to picking a rail I stopped in at Midwest Industries to mock up a SP rail and Pete was kind enough to install my barrel. Even if you have to pay someone to install your barrel you still will be cheaper and get exactly what you want on your upper.

I have a radical 10.5" in 5.56.  It has about 2000 rounds through it.  I have to say it has been pretty solid.  I did have some issues with the rail being slightly out of spec. and the mounting screws and the gas block screws started backing out after about 100 rounds.  Fixed it with locktite and rockset repectively.  I did use a BCM bcg.  I also have a .300 blackout build in 10.5".  I used a BCM barrel and BCG and that runs like a top.  I've had no issues with it thus far.

I bought a PSA 16 inch 300 blackout upper for a build for a friend.  Gas tube was misaligned in the upper, which i fixed.  It's accurate.  I also have a 10.5 in radical .223 upper on my ar pistol, it's working well so far, only 200 rounds downrange though, i've had it for a month.   Personally, like the price point of PSA, and think that their keymod free floats are nice than the radical round free floats.

1/7 twist works fine for heavy subs . I shoot hornady 225 grn. match out of my 8.5 inch cmmg  pistol build never had an issue .

A lot of people make complaints not really having the gun they complain about. I have a 300 Blackout built by Radical Firearms in a SBR.  I can't find anything wrong with the gun, shoots extremely reliable and extremely accurate!  And by the way I own a business and was contacted by the BBB, who basically threatened me if I didn't pay my dues to join.  I told them to take a hike and that I would let the quality of my work speak for itself.  Their ratings don't mean that much to me anymore since I see how they work.
