Hi all,

I recently picked up a free float tube off of the EE for a 7.5" build I'm working on. It's the generic, simple, no frills, aluminum tube type. I thought that the barrel nut part just screws into/out of the tube. But I can not for the life of me get it out. I've had it in a vise using a barrel wrench, and I've tried kroil on it, and even heating the tube part to no avail. Does it come out some other way? I'm seriously beginning to think it must, given everything I've tried. Does anyone have any suggestions? I can't be the only one who has had this problem.

Usually they have a set screw to 1) keep the tube from rotating (single set screw) or 2) the rail slips on and it keeps the tube in place (multiple set screws).

Check on the underside of the rail

OK, so this one doesn't have a rail, it's just a plain tube. It also doesn't have a set screw.

Even if it was red Locktited on the heat should have broke it free (provided you are loosening the nut , not tightening it.). I guess the tube/nut combo could just be screwed on the receiver and tightened with a strap wrench.

Something like this? Tube hand guard Looks like it should just unscrew.

Have you contacted where you bought it?

Yeah it's basically a shorter version of that. I bought it from a guy in the EE, who told me its supposed to just screw on/off. But at this point, I'm not sure I can get it apart. So what options do I have? Can I put it together as it is, like someone mentioned earlier?
