Looking to build a very short 9mm pistol (eventually an SBR) as a supressor host and am wondering how short I can actually go.  Any pics would be great

True.  But as long as there's enough rifling to spin it to avoid baffle strikes, there's no real minimum bbl length on a blowback 9x19mm.  Worst case is you don't have enough powder burn to operate, but that can be remedied by the suppressor or lightening the buffer & eventually the bolt carrier - and probably the hammer spring, too.

Dang, love that!!

I think that I will the getting a 5.5 inch but will this allow even the light 115 grain to remain subsonic?

no 5.5" won't keep the lighter rounds subsonic. Most pistols barrels are <5 and the rounds still hit supersonic.

Good point.  Stupid question.  So the best bet for best results would be to stay 147 and above?

Orion has a 5in 9mm barrel, I found it on gunbroker. A 4 in quad rail sits almost right to the end.

Yep.  And where are you finding "and above"?

Reloading.  I typically reload 158 grain 38 special bullets for my 9mm's.

Ok, I just got a better look at that...is that a bullet tip sticking out of that short barrel?

Yep.  Not mine.  Someone made that up some years ago, probably to prove a point.  I imagine its only use would be to hunt ducks, given the expected accuracy.

I went with an Adco 4.5 inch 9mm barrel. Less than $200 and will chew up a target at 50 yards with a red dot on it.
