After alittle surfing for a 7.5" barrel for my 7.62 winter build, I could only find one place that had 2 in stock so I ordered one.
Already have a SAA lower and next month I'll order a slickside upper and 4" FF, then finish up with the rest of the parts in February. Can't wait until the Range Master see's or should I say hear's my newest toy ! I always get a kick out of his comments when I show up with the 5.56 now, or when I show up with my S&W 500 at the indoor range So how many AR15.com'ers are rocking the 7.62? I need a muzzle device that kicks the flames out the sides !! |

I've got most the parts sitting at the house for my build. Who's bolt carrier groups are you guys using? I've been thinking about grabbing an ar15performance bolt, but I'd still need a carrier.
I think I grabbed my muzzle break from Core 15 Damage Industries. Should be quite the fire breather when she's done. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_124/582382_Damage_Industries_Muzzle_Brakes_Introductory_Offer___EXPIRED.html |

I'm thinking of getting the Super bolt when they are back in stock, right now I'm going to use a 7.62 DPMS bolt.
Thanks for that link ! I was looking for a muzzle brake and that one pictured is perfect and just what I was looking for. |
Glad I could help. I'm thinking that brake with a 7.5" barrel should really be fun.

My 7.62x39 pistol I just finished. Definately turned some heads first trip out to the range.

Just wondering what parts designed for a .30 caliber do you need? Is it just like building any other .30 AR? (barrel, bcg, Receivers, LPK, etc)...
Different bolt and barrel. Arguably optional firing pin upgrade.
ETA: ...and different mags. |
All you'll need to do is change 3 items. 7.62x39 mag that fits an AR, 7.62x39 bolt and 7.62 barrel, then it's test and tune time.

Yeap, just swap out the 5.56 bolt for the 7.62 bolt and use the same carrier.
DPMS 7.62 bolt - $70 Midway AR 7.62 mag - $18 Marks Armory 7" barrel - $135 Maybe a new flash hider if you can't fit a 11/32" drill through the end of it. |

I picked up Mark's last 7.5" barrel that he had in stock but I couldn't find the gas block size. For my 5.56 pistol build, I used a .750 gas block.

.750 is the standard size for most barrels. Pencil barrels use .625 gas blocks and bull barrels obviously use larger blocks. I'm using a YHM 9383 blocks on some of my rifles and I've been happy with them. They work well for slipping underneath rails.

It's .750 It's a good thing I bought an extra .750 low-profile gas block. |

With alittle luck the rest of my parts should get here right after Xmas too. Time to hunt down some more 7.62x39 ammo.

That looks sharp how does it shoot ?
I'll just load 20 in each mag cause it does take alittle work to get 30 of them in there. I was thinking if I have a FTF I might just sand down the base of the firing pin a couple thou and see what happens ? I like to tinker anyhow. |
the magazines in 08-09 were a pita so I sold it but others I have owned in that caliber shot excellent - the one I built for my friend is like that one and he shoots it all the time.

Great looking pistols!!!
My barrel is in and now I'm looking for a flash hider/muzzle brake. What's thread type? I've never paid any attention since all of my builds were 5.56. I did find a .308 muzzle brake with 5/8x24 tpi. All else fails, I can check it against my 5.56 flash hider and see if it will fit. I just wanted to check here to be sure though. |
And I just found one that is 1/2x36 tpi that fits 7.62x39, 6.8 and 9mm. My idea about the .308 model was wrong.

Thanks, can't wait untill I get to the range now My barrel from Mark's is 1/2x28 threads, you way want to double check it just to be sure? I'm just using an A1 flash hider for the time being plus I was able to slide a 11/32 drill bit through it. |
I can't wait. Everything for mine is on the way except for the bolt carrier group. I'll just pull that from my 7.62x39 rifle until someone has them back in stock.
You'll love it, just hold on tight !
I just order a longer firing pin from M1S just in case ? I use the carrier out of my DPMS Sportical with over 2 rounds through it with the new 7.62 bolt with no problems. |

What all do you have to do to keep it CA compliant? Same as rifle just no stock allowed. Bullet button, No stock, 10 round mag. |
Good luck ordering anything from Model 1 Sales, I've had my 762 pistol upper on order since middle of Dec and still no word.
Used to be a good company to do business with. |
I got the firing pin a couple of weeks ago and works good. I guess they got lot's of them laying around.
Hey Jake be careful with that buffer tube. where I live they would bust you for that. Reason being you can easily slide a stock on there.
Need a NFA stamp to do that........just sayin! Still nothing from M1Sales. so discouraged I bought a Krink pistol. |
Still waiting for pistol buffer tube assy's to come back in stock so I can replace it. For the time being I've already cut and filed that rifle buffer tube until it's round and
glued a rubber pad tube around it, plus I don't have any spare rifle buttstocks laying around so I'm GTG.............. hopefully. Found a Utuber with one, gotta say I like it http://youtu.be/IQuTDQBV29A |
