Do the forward assist serrations on the AIM Surplus BCG match up with the forward assist on an DPMS LR-308 upper? I was under the impression that the froward assist on the LR-308 worked differently that a standard AR-15.

Thanks for any info.

The DPMS forward assist is diffrent than the one that is on the AIM. The AIM forward assist is notched into the side of the bcg like a mill ar15 and the DPMS pushes on the BCG behind the gas key.

has anyone tried the AIM BCG with an Aero M5 receiver set? Did the serrations work with AERO's (dpms high pattern) receiver's Forward assist?

here is a factory aero M5 BCG w/ FA

looks to be the same serration placement.

I have the AIM BCG and Aero M5 upper too.   Just tested it and it does engage the serrations on the BCG, but not very positively, especially in the last 1/4" of bolt travel (where you would need the FA the most if you ever need it at all).

The 308 spring force and bolt mass locks the bolt with certainty so I can't see me ever needing the FA.
