I picked up a preban KAC SR-25 Match Rifle late last year and I am interested in building or buying an upper to that looks and functions like a MK 11 Mod 0.

I don't plan on modifying the existing lower or upper in any way.  I simply want to build/buy a second complete upper for the preban lower.   Since I live in CT, I no longer have the right to buy a later model KAC MK11 or M110.

I see KAC uppers for sale from time tom time.... If I were to look for a complete upper which model would be the best match?

Many resemble the look of the 20" MK11 but does any one have a recommendation for what KAC upper would be closest match that didn't actually come of of an MK11?

Thanks.

There's a Enhanced Rifle Upper on Gunbroker right now. That's basically an MK11 upper. They don't sell them separately from KAC so I'd buy this one!

I'd agree with this, its kind of a modernized Mk11 with a lightweight URX rail and possibly a sandcut Carrier group which are rae as hens teeth. It might have a dimpled bbl to shed some weight. buy that one

This is an early Knight's Manufacturing Co. SR-25 Match/Mk11 Mod 0 factory conversion. Knight's did just a few of these many years ago. I was fortunate enough to find this one about five years ago in Michigan. Although there is a knurled and threaded collar that can be removed to install a suppressor, a suppressor was never made for them. I will attest that the 24" Obermeyer barrel is good for .5MOA @100 yards. I have been told by Knight's to keep this rifle. I will.

I have one just like this minus the suppressor mount (original owner didn't want it) that I bought as a 1 owner gun in 2013. My 24" obermeyer posts similar groups. We've got 3 inches at 550 and .4" at 100 with the right loads. It likes them heavy - my best 100 group was with hornady 208 Amax over rl17.

Thanks for the feedback guys…  The ER looks like a good fit but I'm really wanting to get into 20" exact match to the Mk 11 Mod 0.

What are the chances of finding all of the real Knights upper parts; barrel, FF RAS, gas system, BCG to build one?

Are any of these parts just off the shelf or are they all made by/for KAC?

Again, your comments are very helpful and appreciated.

The RAS is easy to get, look at boltcarrier.com Ayan the owner operator is a certified KAC SR-25 armorer.
The real problem is getting the gas system, while the tube is a standard rifle length gas tube an actual KAC gas block is going to be extremely difficult, in addition there's only a handful of folks who can actually fit install and build this upper. An actual KAC bbl will be next to impossible so you'll need to get one spec'ed.
White Oak, Kreiger, Obermeyer, Schnieder, Rainier and Mega all make excellent bbls in an SR-25 Profile.
A BCG is going to be difficult as well, it can be done but it'll take time and effort in tracking one down.
KAC is an exclusive club building one from lose parts will prove very difficult and border on the impossible, though anything is possible with enough effort and money.

Broke down and took the easy road and bought a complete 20" ER upper to get started.  I'll probably buy the correct MK11 RAS and see what I can do about the gas block over time.

Thanks again..
