What length is your gas system, and what length/model/make is your handguard? Does the muzzle device (it looks like a suppressor or a really elongated brake) hit the interior of the hand-guard when you shoot? Also, what model/make is that muzzle device? That barrel, did it come with your Tromix upper build?

I am going for something like your setup and want to get ideas from everyone here.

Sorry for delayed reply.  I've been dealing with a tornado and flood damage to my property.

The lower is a Spike's Gen2 Billet (I have a matching upper that is a 300BLK)
The upper is an Anderson forged IIRC w/ factory enlarged port (I decided forged over billet for strength reasons)
Handguard is Spike's BAR2 12" (inside diameter 1.8" and it doesn't touch my suppressor)
Gas block is Superlative Bleed-Off - Pistol length
LaRue Handgrip
Fail Zero Nickel Boron BCG
Tromix Barrel / Bolt 10.5"
Squirrel Daddy laser etched ejection port door
Stock is Magpul UBR
Trigger is Geissele SSA-E
Charging handle is Radian Raptor (I suggest the Raptor LT for newer builds)
Suppressor is SilencerCo Hybrid 46 (direct thread)

I hope everything is better and nobody got hurt.

Thanks for the information though, I really like your setup, and I am thinking of ideas on how to use your build on one of mine own.

Thanks.  And, all good.  Miraculously, the tornado touched everything around the house (barn, trees, etc.), but didn't remove a single shingle on the house.  Then, my sump pump blow its hose and started pumping INTO to the house.  Fun times.  It's just money.

@Rincoln

Thanks!  Yes, I forgot to mention that -- it's Brownells AlumaHyde II in OD Green. 👍

And yeah, I really like the little TA44s for guns that will mainly be shooting within 100 yards or so.

I also have one on my 9mm SBR and it's been great for that as well.

Tromix upper w/ 16" barrel

I wonder why 458 socom isn't more popular? I have more fun shooting this than my .308 or .223

I mean, you can buy factory loaded ammo if you want.

But for me, I would only consider something like 458 SOCOM if I reloaded (which I do).

I'm guessing that's probably the case for most people in here?

Otherwise, it's going to be REALLY expensive to shoot.

Upper receiver opened up to Tromix specs
Tromix barrel is 14" with matching bolt
BCM handguard
Muzzle device is a custom made unit that resembles a BE Myers 249
Using a Spikes lower with Geissele SSA

The combo is light, accurate and has been reliable.

ROFLMFAO!!!
Twenty years of shooting the .458 SOCOM and no factory load has ever polluted any of my .458 SOCOM barrels, and unless supplied free ammo by someone, never will.

I need a stock of once-fired to setup my dies. I remember back when I started with this, I was crushing cases. Turned out that it was because I set my dies using new brass. Once it set my dies using a fired case, I was GTG.

This was built so long ago (2011ish) I had to order and wait a year to get a Rock River complete upper just to junk it out for the barrel and bolt.
It's e(de)volved over the years but hasn't varied too much. Scoped, non scoped. A1 stock A2 stock. CMP full float tube on and off.
Basically every piece on it was modified, barrel turned down, etc.
Alas once built and shot it's allure faded, now it sees daylight infrequently.

Thank you. I have all together 7 identical builds. The are .22LR, 5.56, 300 blackout, 7.62x39, .458 socom, 50 Beowulf, and a UTM gun all identical just like that. I just don't have an optic, laser, and light on them.
