I saw someone else with this topic recently but I can find it. Just put together my JP bolt. The cotter pin sticks out on each side. It doesn't "appear" to contact the inside of the receiver but just seems odd for such a famously precise design. Anyone have any ideas on this? when working the bolt in and out of the carrier it is also not especially smooth. Seems to actually hang up a bit.

I will try to post pics.
Is that normal for this gas ring or do I have a problem? Does it get better after shooting or is this a problem working towards failure?

Yea its machined out where the cotter pin goes through the carrier. Narrow area around the cotter pin will = more cotter pin sticking out.

If it hasn't been shot it might not be real smooth. The parts haven't seated or worn in to each other yet.

Mine in my JP Low Mass sticks out too. It hasn't caused any problems.
