Screw keymod. But yes, MI makes great stuff. This I picked up a Gen3 M-Lok handguard. Lightweight Slim Feature packed (QD's at all the places you'd want, anti-rotation design, etc) I absolutely will be buying more of them.

I've seen several MI rails with broken/bent tabs that contact the barrel nut from improper install. Im wary of rails that rely on friction fit with the barrel nut, also.

I did not like the previous generation MI rails for the same reason. I also don't like rails the require barrel nut timing because I like to be able to seat it with the amount of torque I want to use. MI has corrected both with the Gen 3. I will say all my friction fit rails (SLR, KMR, VRS-T) are significantly more solid than the rails that attach to the barrel nut via screws. |

I own a few gen 2's. When installed properly they are fantastic. However this Gen 3 change is amazing. I'm planning a new build right now and to be honest, the MI G3 is at the top of my list in a tie with a Larue rail. Great value and quality.
Just need to decide between that and the Larue rail now depending on which length I go with.

Gen 2 drop in on the Beowulf. Quality and price are excellent and it's one of the few rifle length rails that will fit over that massive gas block.
