This is easier to do if you remove the upper from the lower, you can get a better grip on the delta ring if the magazine well isn't interfering with the palm of your hand.

Plant the stock on the ground with the muzzle pointed up, then YOU pull down (and hold) on the delta ring and your buddy takes off the handguards. (make sure the gun's unloaded first).

Works like a champ. Did that make any sense? Haven't had my coffee this morning.

I am Army strong so I pull down the delta ring with my pecker and then use my hands to remove the guards.
