No regrets, but all the rails do produce the temptation to use them, I see many if not most MRP users have flashlights and lasers on the handguard, the result is a heavier than normal weapon
I just posted new ones Like Duffy, no regrets but you have to restrain yourself t keep the weight reasonable. |

I have seen it a few times in this thread and I just got my new MRP Upper and I have one question. It seems to be PURPLE???? I would prefer it be nice BLACK. Whats going on? Anything I can do short of refinishing it? Thanks, Nelson
Hm you can contact LMT and send it back for another one, so I heard.
This seems to be a fairly common occurence with LMT's anodizing lately....
I would contact the dealer that you purchased it from and see if they can/will do anything for you. Contact LMT directly if you dont have any luck with the dealer. Its possible the whole batch that your dealer has is also purple. |
bsbg: That's a sweet looking rifle. Actually, they're all nice looking builds in this thread. What does that rifle weigh with all the toys on it? I'm thinking of building one of these but I don't want it to weight as much as a SAW if I can help it. Has anybody gone the MRP route and wondered if they got their money's worth in terms of ! for your $? I don't want to regret it. Thanks |

Had a class on Saturday. I took off the IR and SF M900 and put a simple TD foregrip on it, my past experience showed that after 6 or 8 hours, I would have a hard time lifting it with my shooting hand to do a mag change. I'm putting my MRP rifle on a diet
Dude, join a gym
My MRP was just under 10 lbs loaded before the IR laser. That is about what a fully outfitted gun is going to weigh when you add up the light, optic, BUIS, Magpul stock, etc. And that is with no spare batteries like you can put in a Vltor or LMT SOPMOD stock. |
Why you....
You oughta try doing a few dozens of tactical mag changes, holding it with your shooting hand while going to sitting and prone position (need the other hand to brace yourself) a few dozen times, all with the weapon pointing down range Our IR pointers are similar in weight, but my M900 weighs a lot more than yer 6V SF light and KAC foregrip, all that weight sits in front |
BTDT
Why do you think I sold all my HBARs and my M900? Too much weight for too little gain. Maybe you should be the first to have an MRP barrel turned down Are we the only ones who post in this thread? |
I'll post a bit... But the last couple pages are all about MRPs and NVDs on them... No NVDs for me... Spooky |
Well we'll have to fix that, won't we?
I'm selling my PVS14 I got from Pete (IPSC_GUY) along with a PRI and USGI mount, I haven't put it on EE yet as I'm trying to sell it to folks I know first |
I guess I'll send you an IM just to see how hard my jaw will hit the floor... Spooky |
YOU...selling? Mann, does that mean your getting a D-760 now! |
Haha, alas no
I shot the D740 last Saturday, but only a few rounds during a sighting in session in class. The elevation needed no adjustment, only had to move windage over to the left by 3 MOA. The cheekweld with the LMT SOPMOD stock wasn't ideal, so I stowed it after zeroing it |
I gottta feelin' that stock problem WILL be solved early next week for you!!! |
Yep yep, I'm also reconfiguring the dedicated upper, changing from a 20" barrel to a light weight 14.5" with a Noveske flash hider/brake, anyone interested in a Bushy 20" barrel?
oohh can't wait to see your new rig! damn i sound like a mrp groupie. hopefully i can make up my mind soon and join the ranks! |
The reconfigured upper will have a DD 12" handguard and a light barrel, but the Noveske brake is dang heavy
Duffy,
Now THAT is a good looking rifle!! Too many prestine looking ones around here for my taste!! Nice work! Vic |
Duffy,
Does the MRP in the first pic have M4 contured barrel? Details PLEEEEEASE! |
Yep good catch, it's an M4 profile barrel done by ADCO. It was bought from one of the ar15.com members, you can still find the for sale thread here, only the upper made it to CA
Did he have the barrel turned down under the rails at all? I was thinking of shortening my 16" to 14.5" and have it turned down a bit to save on weight. I will wait until after SHOT to see what developes before I do.
GO STEELERS!!! |
Hm I dunno, from the for sale pic, it looks as though the barrel starts to taper towards the M203 step down, but could just be the effect of the camera.
I was thinking about having mine fluted, but compare that to a standard barrel, seems the only difference is the M203 step down, they're both skinny under the handguard and heavy from the gas block forward, so I deduce the extra weight on the MPR isn't from the barrel... |
I'm not that brave......yet. Wow! Post 1,000! |
Well, you guys made me break down and pick one of these up. I'm building the lower for it now.
These things are chambered 5.56, right? I don't have an inch/lb torque wrench (yet) so I'm not into yanking the barrel to read for myself. Thanks. |
Yep. Hope you enjoy it |
Thanks, that's what I figured. I'd have bought one either way. It's completely built except for a bolt/carrier and some flip ups. I can't wait. |

knock...knock....Guess what was on my front stoop yesterday Wes?? It had the intitials of LMT on the box!!! Yee haaw, my wait is over, well except for that 6.8 barrel. Does this mean I have to bring another platform to kill da yotes and bcats?? Naw, I'll just use yours with dat fancy paint job!! |
Bring it, We can always use another gun Let's see some pics with a D740 on top. |
Done...As for the 740 pics, that's Duffy's job! |
The ones you've taken are better than the ones I haven't taken yet
LOL ok then...Being a proud new papa of a boy named LMT deserves some "NOD's" |
Ordered my first MRP today, a 16" CQB....but with something extra that I can't announce until closer to Shot.
