New guy here, need advice and knowledge for a new AR.  I've built and bought a couple ARs in the past and now I have 1k freed up to use on whatever, I've got a couple ideas but I'm no expert on ARs so I thought I'd come here and pick your brains :D

1- used Colt A3 tactical carbine hbar  (restricted roll mark)

2- used bushmaster XM E2S (restricted roll mark)

3- used S&W M&P sport 2

4- new FN 15 SRP

5- new Ruger 556

Now here's where I get complicated/ridiculous, the colt, bushmaster, ruger would get a new colt full auto BCG.  The S&W would get the BCG or a new full colt upper and the FN is already top of budget.  Thanks fellas

Since you're wanting to swap out so much anyway, why not just buy whatever upper you want and piece together or pick up a complete lower from somewhere else (like PSA)?  It'll end up being cheaper in the long run compared to buying a complete rifle then swapping out parts/uppers.

*Colt 6920 CCU 16 Midlength
*Colt 6920 HBPW
*BCM M4 Mod 0

All are close (+ $150-$250) to your budget, new, and are quality. No need to swap this or that.

Personally, this is where I would look. Everyone has a different view though.

Good luck in your search.

I would choose a LW Mid with an MLOK rail.  I don't care for most 16" carbine gas guns.
Since you're in Illinois, check out a Springfield Armory Saint. (Someone needs to buy them).

You can build a lightweight AR for around that press or less. It's something different when you pick up a rifle that is 5-6 lbs with optics and loaded

Thanks for all the replays so far, I had thought about building another rifle but I've had a strange obsession lately with the old restricted roll mark ARs, and I love the look of the old A2 colts.  I had been looking at SA saints until the whole SB 1657 betrayal lol, i love the MP 2 I have now and I've heard good things about FN and the ruger, I did find a stripped lower by BCI out of IN, anybody know much about them? I've never really thought about a light weight rifle before, compared to my AR10 and M1 Garand my ar15 always feels light lol.

Anybody have an idea what a bushmaster xm15 e2s SN BFI4065xx made in 2003 would be worth? It's got the A2 carry handle upper and a flash suppressor.

A 2003 model BM is probably worth less than a current Windham Weaponry carbine ($800 retail).

For comparison, a new Bushmaster Patrol Carbine (non-Windham) is $500 after a $150 factory rebate.

Realistically, ~$350-$400 tops.

Bad market for resale currently. Especially with so many $400-$500 factory guns available.
