I don't think they've been officially released yet have they? The older Gau etc have been but not the a2 or the mk12

I've noticed the Delta Rifle is out of preorder.

I assumed that meant it was shipping.

Because the RO723 was a Colt M16A2 Carbine.

Indeed.  That's a pretty cool repro by Troy.

That is pretty cool.  I was in the Ranger Regt. in '93 and issued almost the exact same carbine, except it didn't have an M4 profile barrel, it was shorter and without a 203 cut out.  I don't know how long the barrel was?  It was also semi/auto.  Anyone know what I had?  We just called it a "CAR-15".  I'd like to create a replica some day...

Colt 723

Unless it was old enough to be a 653 (A1 upper/lower, no case deflector, 1:12 twist).
Looks like a few 723's in this Gothic Serpent photo, along with a XM4 profile barrel on a 723 (which makes it late production I think).

It's also possible they simply replaced old 653/723 barrels with new 1:7 twist barrels when they were shot-out.

I always thought those rifles had a straight taper on them. M4 profile barrels look weird with an a2 upper

Not at all. The Model 727 had that setup.

The early XM4/M4s had this setup as well.

Even with his face blurred you can recognize Paul Howe.

This +1 It was my understanding there were a mixture of 723's and 727's used during gothic serpent.

Thanks Kitbuilder!  It was definitely a 723 or 733 then.  Back then, the M16A2 was still the primary issue for the 75th, pre-M4, so if it had the 14.5" barrel it would have still seemed very short to me.  I think I had the 11.5" though...

Isn't there something going on with BATF now saying the faux auto sear pin holes are verboten now?

ooooooh.

I like!

A pinned/welded 14.5ish barrel would be even better, but I still like.

It seems that ruling doesn't apply to Troy because the lower walls are thicker where the autosear would normally sit. It doesn't prevent someone from installing a Franklin Armory BFS binary trigger inside which is going to be my plan. However, the ATF might later decide any lower with a Property of U.S. Government engraving is actually the property of the US Government.

It's still retarded because the lowers that were confiscated were done by braceman and the faux auto sear pin was noticeably in the incorrect spot for an auto sear pin. So even if you wanted to be shady and drill out his faux pin location, it still wouldn't work.
