Congrats brother! I remember when these started coming up for sale. I still want one pretty bad.

I wouldn't have thought twice about buying that either. It's a cool piece and one of the few ways to get something (legally) from a recent conflict.
I bought one when they were started selling them a few years ago. It's a great shooter.

Cool!
Theres another nice iraqi bring back thread in the A2 forum |

View Quote No, no dreams killed here. I knew these were Ugandan's from previous research and the name on the buttstock confirmed it. |

Ebola or AIDS virus on a rifle.........something I never really thought about!
Why the hell did they get DPMS? That's... Eugh. Especially with the HBAR, why'd they bother with that?
Anyway, sterilize it with acetone/CLP. Run, shoot, chug, and have fun with it. |

Folks that bought these contractor's rifle are extremely pleased with their performance and I have the same positive experience I know some LE have used DPMS rifles in the past or maybe still to this day. |

Don't sweat it OP. You scored a cool find in my opinion. Like you said, it's got character and a cool history. My first AR was a DPMS and I never had any issues out of it. Ran it through several carbine courses. I've since passed it on to a new shooter and moved on to other things, but for what you paid you made a good score and it would certainly make a good truck gun or something to pack in the woods. Congrats! |

They're good to go brother. DPMS used to put out a lot of out of spec parts back in the day but they've since fixed their issues. Everything I've owned from them has been rock solid, minus 1 old out of spec charging handle |

Cool find. You have to get the Iraqi AK contractor rifle to complete the set.
Sans the dust, your DPMS looks like mine purchased way back in 2008...solid rifle with zero issues after several thousand rounds.
Does anyone recall if they sold off the Ugandan AK's?
Never did see any AR's in their hands myself, just 87 different AK variants. |
Kind of cool. Plus for $400 it makes a good plinker, backup rifle to give your neighbor or family member for SHTF or just spare parts.

Sweet rifle but that sling looks nasty AF, and knowing it was a Ugandans, no way In hell I'd let that touch my skin. The Ebola and aids jokes aren't that far from what I'd expect lol
