I have never heard of HM defense before and the Ruger TD model is pointless. Also, the SR556 TD are about $1500, not $2050.
For SHTF rifle there are a lot of name brand rifles you can get for about $900. |

OP if you are only going to own one AR, get a DI, one made by Colt, Bravo, Daniel Defense, Noveske.

I took in a used HM Defense HM-15 at the shop last week for $550 with a spiral fluted barrel and milspec trigger group.
I don't think they're worth the $900 you're looking to spend because the forearm screams Seekins and it and the lower were both cerakoted where the forged upper receiver was not. At least they did a 1:8 barrel but eventually we'll sell it and I'll find out how good the accuracy is on it. For $900, jump up a little bit and get a Daniel Defense or used LMT MRP. |

The HMs look very nice in terms of fit and finish. And style too.
From the models I've seen, I'd guess the odd Cerracoating job was something done at home |
