Picked it up after having the Bronze KG gunkote applied and added the 1911 as a companion. They just look right together. I'll add a better pic later.

I received a KAC Mod2 Crested upper today and decided to do a little reconfiguring of one of my SR-15 uppers.

The original receiver was only marked SR-15 E3 and didn't have the Knight's Crest on the back near the CH, so I began the disassembly of that upper and once everything was taken down, I found the new receiver worked just about perfect in rail alignment.  The original one had no gap between the handguard and the face, which looked great, but I wanted to dress this gun out just a little bit more.

It worked out really well.  I think I got really lucky.

Put my knocking-around AR on a bit of a diet. Replaced the UBR  with a minimalist stock....jettisoned the backup sights (that I've never used EVER) , and switched to a Holosun red -dot....

I'm happy.

Yesterday I visited one of my LGSs and discovered they had some nitrided 7.62x39 AR barrels so I picked up one.  It is going to be the replacement for the non-CL barrel I bought years ago.  For my rifles that I have shot with corrosive ammo, I think nitride barrels are the way to go.

I've got this beat up old charging handle. Its probably close to a decade old.

The pin kept walking out of the holes and I couldn't figure out why. Since this charging handle is a gnat's ass away from tossed in the trash, I wanted to see if I could squeeze just a little bit more use out of.

I'm going to preface by letting you guys know that this isn't my "go to" charging handle by any means.

I took a 10-32 tap and tapped the upper and lower side. With as much finess as I could muster I drilled out a 1/8" hole through the latch.
I then took two 10/32 set screws and screwed them into place just as the latch wouldn't spring forward anymore, then back off like 1/8th of a turn.

The loctite is drying now and we'll see if it works?

Took a few rifles out with a client yesterday to get some training done, and some scopes zeroed.

He was a first time rifle shooter and we went over taking the BCG down, lubrication, cycle of operation, and getting his red dot zeroed at 25y.

When I got my scopes zeroed, I took aim at the new steel plates recently installed this year, and started abusing the 300yd plate.

Having been a member there for 5 out of the last 9 years, this is a nice upgrade to see.

Guns fired were my SR-15 E3 that was cut to 14.5 and a M4QD MAMS pinned and welded with a Razor 1-4 FFP, a Noveske SR-15 E3 barreled rifle with a Strike Eagle 1-6, and my E3 barreled FDE Daniel Defense with the Razor 1-6.

Today's installment of What did @M4ger do begins with a new Noveske Gen1 receiver which has the Iron Cross engraved at the top instead of the side.

I had removed one of my KAC SR-15 E3 legacy barrels prior to today, and was going to employ it on this gun.

The Gen1 lower I wanted to use is much newer than the other Gen1 I have and would be a great candidate for this upper.  The anodizing matched almost perfectly IMO.

One of the first things I like to do is swap out the stainless ejection cover spring for a black one since I like the look better.

The original upper this lower had on it had no F/A, but I had plans to use the BCM A44 so I decided a lower profile F/A would be useful.  I installed the teardrop for this reason.

There's no lip on the top to catch like there is on a standard F/A.  I thought about using a Schuster plug but I think this looks better.

Another benefit to this new upper is it fits much better to this lower.  There's no wobble to speak of.  The KAC barrel also fit rather snug to the upper.

Once I'd put the URX3 on and the barrel nut loctited and torqued down, I decided to change optic plans.

This barrel had originally been on a gun with a Strike Eagle 1-6, but I started thinking the Viper PST 1-4 with MOA exposed turrets would still be a very capable optic.  My normal train of thought for 1-4/1-6/1-8 type optics is to put 1-4s on my 14.5" guns, and 1-6/1.5-8s on the 16" and larger rifles.

I think it came out good.

For some reason I like this picture.

Today I was provided the opportunity to put one of my 14.5" SR-15 E3 barrels into a different upper receiver with a URX2 Rifle handguard.

I've been slowly setting up most of my guns with URX3 Rifle Length handguards to receive 16" E3 barrels.  Deciding to put a 14.5" E3 barrel (cut from a 16) with a pinned and welded M4QD MAMS and a URX2 Rifle handguard together made sense.

The legacy lower I have with a SD-E and Razor 1-4 FFP is starting to look really good to me now.

Congrats

A few items showed up today and allowed me to make a little more progress on a few projects.

I decided to use a Faxon lightweight gas block on the 6.5 Grendel project I have going and it's going to look really good against the stainless barrel.  I also put a nitrided rifle length gas tube on it.

The AAC shims I ordered for it as well came in the same package along with a new firing pin for my 6.5 G, and a new charging handle latch.

I put a few different selectors onto some rifles today.

Having picked up a couple of the JBO scalloped selectors I found out that Colt ambidextrous selector screws fit them perfectly.  I started swapping the button cap screws with the Colt style.

I think they look good.

Just awaiting the return of my mini recce barrel from Dave @ Defensive Creations.

16in midlength DD barrel with a pinned SLR titanium gas block and geissele MK14 in DDC sent off to have the barrel chopped down to 14in and pinned with a Warcomp. All gets attached to a vltor mur and topped with a steiner t5xi in a geissele mount.

So I suppose I didn't do it myself to my AR, but ya know

I had a few rifles using Ergo gappers on older KAC triggerguards.  I put some new style KAC triggerguards in those rifles and the ones I removed went onto some guns that use the BCM Mod3 grip.
