Once I built an A4gery, but then converted said rifle into something else. But since I still have the KAC RAS, ACOG, and Matech in my parts bin, I've decided I would like to build a new Marine Corps style rifle. But which "new" rifle would be the better choice as a starting point? Thoughts or experiences?

Colt.

If the FN-15 had the CHF barrel I might say differently.

Ive had a 6601 and loved it but im a cult fanboy so i say join the club.

Edit : its colt by a 2 to 1 margin

That's only their CHF SAW barrels which none of their production rifles have, and they just use a different type of chrome that plates ~ twice as thick as the mil specified type.

Colt.

I like the prancing pony over the FN logo.

I want an FN AR in spite of the fact I hate chrome lining in a barrel, I guess I would doubly hate their barrel. I have several Colts and want something different. FN makes a fine firearm, anyone thinking otherwise does so out of predisposition of attitude.

Any company holding a US gov. weapons contract for over a decade knows what they're doing and holds very high standards.

Either is good, pick a roll mark.

I voted Colt

i have an older colt 20" A2 profile that is more accurate than my FN 20". not sure who made the colt barrels years ago though vs now.

I had Colts and FN A2's in the Marines.

I would pick based on which has more defense line parts in it, if either.

Anyone know?

So do you not agree with the cumulative experience that people have gained with Colt through both military and civilian use?

Colt doesn't have a CHF barrel, it's a button rifled barrel just like the M16.

Exactly. He's saying if they had of used the chf barrel he would choose the fn but since they didn't, he chooses the colt.
