Hi,

Looking to build a couple of ARs and I was hoping to locate both a M4 and a lightweight carbine barrels that are chrome-lined (bore and chamber), 1x7 twist and 14.7 inches long.  I plan on pinning and welding the A2 flash suppressors in place to bring them up to the legal 16 inches... I'm not open to those longer A2 flash suppressors since my eyes simply focus on them as being less-than USGI in appearance.

I'm hoping to save a few bucks by not sending a 16.1 inch barrels to ADCO for cutting and turning down the barrels.

...I call CMMG about these type of barrels and they stated that they did make them, but no longer... So!! That's out of the question.

Thanks for looking and for any leads!!

Del-Ton sells a whole rifle kit with a pinned 14.7 but I don't see the barrel listed on their site by it self.

I'm pretty sure Daniel defense makes those barrels, you may want to call centurion arms as well

I think it was member jcrowl that has some clone rifles. From what I remember, he used a 14.5" barrel and regular a2 but used a small spacer to make the pinned barrel have an OAL of 16".

Just out of curiosity...why would you want to go thin?  There are disadvantanges...especially where heat is concerned.

PSA sells 14.7" uppers that are to your specifications. I just purchased one two weeks ago. It only took 4 business days to receive it.

I'm not the OP, but re barreled my back up carbine with a light weight barrel as I have difficulty holding offhand at shots 150m or more... fell off my bicycle a year ago, and landed on the point of my shoulder in addition to rotator cuff and bursitis issues..  old age is a bitch

They heat up faster but they cool down faster too. Unless the OP is doing full auto mag dumps then I don't see an issue, and not really an issue even then. I wish all my barrels were CHF standard (pencil) profiled barrels...

There's also disadvantages going thick. I don't(won't) own an AR with a heavy barrel. I hate a heavy rifle. Especially way out on the front.
