Top picture is a rebuilt Mk18 Mod 0 marked lower (had to blow up to see anchor on mag well).  Firing full auto with VCOG on backwards and lens cover closed.  RAS not secured on.  If I remember correctly blame is on the ships armorer.  Guys are not supposed to mess with the guns after they draw from armory.  This is where regs are stupid.

Looks almost like 600rpm; does it have a Surefire OBC or other FA rate reducing system?

Hydraulic buffer, a5 length tube and no suppressor will easily get you into that cyclic rate.

I wouldn’t think CD has access to those commercial parts though, but I’d probably be wrong.

Nope standard milspec parts, ie Crane cut down 10.3" bbl, H2 buffer, carbine recoil spring and SSF trigger.  Ammo was either M855 or M855A1.  Generally, don't mag dump Mk262 or Mk318.  So, full pressure 5.56mm ammo.

That is the CO of the ship as indicated by the command at sea pin above the right pocket and 05 scrambled eggs.

Not a great look but his job isn't being a trigger puller and he is out there serving his country protecting us keeping an insanely complex ship ready to fight.

The poorly installed upper handguard leads to incompetence more than anything else and that falls on that sailor's NCOs and officers for not checking the equipment when drawn out.

This configuration is very popular when I take it to work. Last week two guys said they were going to buy uppers with a FSB. They like the old school look. And it just works.

In messing around in my parts box, I found a Colt side sling adapter. And I do have some M4 hand guards. Who knows what may happen.

This, on the other hand, is far too clean. Perhaps the absence of grime is meant to convey an aspirational message of purity. However, the work is derivative at best.

An intriguing approach. The dull coating presents a battered mask as if to say, "true beauty lies beneath." Alternatively, the resurfaced subtext could be interpreted as a statement about our futile efforts to preserve the essence of what once was. Revealing the harsh reality that we all end up damaged in the end.

Getting pretty deep in here lol
That was a very generous assessment of my picture. In reality, I, an almost half-wit, put my rifle on the patio, snapped a pic and then...you know what, I'm not going to kill the magic. I'll just say thanks!

I think that's what the packaging says in Army land too, but they were all called blousers. There were some that were wide bands of elastic with some velcro on each end too.

Question: I bought a KAC legacy 300 meter rear folding sight from Tacswap from a legit seller (listing here). I've had several of these over the years but noticed the rail clamp on this one is wider than it is tall vs. height and width being pretty much identical on all the others. I believe the rail clamp is the same one used across the 99051 and 97082 sights. Anyone know if KAC varied the size of the rail clamp over the years? Everything else seems to be on point though I recall a more audible "click" when flipping the sight up for use.

Here's a stock photo for comparison and you can see the clamp is more of a square vs. a rectangle.

Not just the clamp, but the main body geometry around it is also different on newer BUIS.

I would say both are correct.  Got issued the first KAC 300 in the lated 90s.  Last ones I received for issued were in 21/22'.  Think I have one still in wrapper in parts bin.  I'll check next week when I get back there.
