The histogram is a little left-heavy, but it's a black receiver on a black background; IMO that's where it should be, no?  I don't want the black receiver to be bright or grey/silver, that would look strange/wrong.

I have a grayscale gradient chart, sort of like this, but with more steps and all the way to pure white, at the top left of my Lightroom bar. With the screen adjusted so that all steps clearly visible/distinguishable, the photo looks natural/correct on my display (2010 MacBook Air 13" if that matters? Are these notoriously bright/wrong? My brightness is only 1/2 way up.):
http://www.ramelectronics.net/data/default/images/static/reverse-steps.jpg

If I brighten the image and shift the histogram to the right, it looks unnatural/fake/wrong/etc.  Here is a quick edit (curve, highlights, and exposure) to have the histogram more centered... Maybe it's my monitor(s), but it looks far too bright IMO? Opinion(s)?
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-y9OPyHk9THk/VQDVRALh6NI/AAAAAAAASDM/fZE8PP_oVgk/w940-h625-no/150204-Dallas-TX-ILCE-6000-213201.jpg

On my MacBook, this version looks pretty much horrible.  On my PC, despite the monitor brightness being at 100, it doesn't look quite as bright/bad, but it's missing the shadows that I thought made the other version 'interesting', and now just looks like an HDR snapshot.  If my screen is really that out-of-whack, I'd really like to know so I can stop producing horrible pictures.

I know I'm no pro, but I'm a little insulted by that.

What is so wrong with the photos that warrants that comment?

.....Iraq: May 2004 :  Land Rovers carrying 20 Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders come under attack on a highway near the city of Amara.
After radioing for back-up, they fixed bayonets and charged at 100 rebels using tactics learned in drills. Despite being outnumbered five to one, they suffered only three minor wounds in the hand-to-hand fighting.
When the fighting ended 35 enemy lay dead and nine were captured.

Playing around with some poster board. I don't have a nice monitor or computer setup so, to me it looks good. On HD screens it looks grey or dark.

You got to enlighten me.. What rail size and barrel size are rifles 3,4 and 6?  The suppressors are quite close to the rail which is strongly along the lines of what I like. Great photos as always.

From your lack of posts in this thread and general misunderstanding of what it's about, I'll smile and nod.

From the first post:   "New Rule: If your going to post a picture, either your image has to include at least some part of an AR15 in it; or you can post a picture of a non-AR so long as you also include another picture of an AR (or at least some part of an AR). Any picture you do post, has to be a high quality picture....(which is subjective and relative I know, but its the best we can do) This rule was added on page 134"

I dont have a photo in here because I know I cant meet all the expectations,(cough) although I will soon.. about to do a shoot with a photographer buddy.   But please keep posting your snowflake Glock.  No two are alike!
