I still havent posted a pic of mine yet,  ill get right on that... its a Ballistic advantage 14.5" modern series govt, with a yhw pahntom5c2 P&w. its got a sig msr1-6 on it, but it kinda feels like too much optic, not from a sight picture/ zoom perspecitve,  but pure weight and bulk.

Having now built a 16" lightweight carbine( faxon gunner barrel)  and the 14.5" with a mid weight barrel,  I really want to either build or rebuild one of these with a faxon pencil or gunner 14.5" barrel, prefferable their intergral flash hider barrel, as a true lightweight carbine, that with the PA 1x MP would be a really nice and handy "rifle"

Ive been doing more hiking lately and its really got me thinking about weight, so i im starting to put together in my head what would be an ideal lightweight rifle,  and those faxon intergal muzzle 14.5>16" barrels are like the perfect option.

My 14.5” with a fresh rattle can coat. May have went a little overboard with the gray on the right side but these things certainly aren’t supposed to be perfect right? It’s Brownell’s Alumahyde with Coyote as a base coat, then some Dark Parkerizing Gray and OD Green splatter. What do you guys think?

@jstnstr how did you do that? I love the pattern and have a 14.5 (not P&W I have an SBR lower) that just cleared it's function testing today, so it's good to go

Just spray your base coat, then spray whichever color you want to splatter into a plastic cup (aim it away from your face and wear eye pro). Then take a paint brush and get about 1" soaked, knock the bulk of the liquid off then kinda act like you're going to throw the brush at the firearm, obviously without actually doing that. Basically just fling the liquid spray paint at it. Make sure you cover everything around you with trashbags. Its fuckin messy!

For the life of me, I have not been able to figure out how to embed photos into my posts like I see everyone else doing. No matter what, it always just shows up as a direct link to the picture, not the picture itself. Even if I directly copy your fix of my photo and edit my original post, it just shows up as a link, not an embedded picture. I've never ran across this in any of the other forums I've used over the years. Is there some sort of trick to getting it to embed? I've tried multiple hosting sites, along with the copied [ img][ /img] links, and even just the direct URL of the photo. It always just reverts it to a link in my post.

Thanks! I think that will look awesome! Can I suggest throwing in a little bit of a third color, maybe a lighter foliage green to help give light/dark contrast. I don't have much of that on mine and I'm considering it

Thanks for clearing that up, I missed it the first time going through that thread. I guess I'll work at posting a bit more often.

And thanks for the compliment on the build. Definitely was a learning journey. I'm actually just a new lower away from building a second rifle with all my extra parts I cycled through before finding what I really wanted/liked. Will probably toss all those together with my LPVO to mess around with, and keep it different than my primary rifle.

I like it!

that pattern or style would look really good for a winter/ mountian camp im thinking of using.  white base layer,  with brown/ tan splatter on top. maybe alittle green to blend with evergreens.
