Clean! Can't wait for my FSP to get here. Still need to get a FSB for it tho, my current SOCOM bbl has a low pro from my non FSP RIS II
I think I'm gonna put my fsb back on the socom bbl and use the FSP ris and paint it. Should I paint the whole rifle or just the rail?

Side note. It's virtually impossible to get taper pins out w/ a broken hand

ive tried a lot of different things but citristrip is significantly better at removing paint and doesn't seem to leave as bad a residue.

I should be getting commission from these guys as much as I promote this Stuff.

I've used everything. Including citristrip And brake kleen. If you don't want to scrub or wait 10 years, use this stuff:

Maybe after it gets broken in a little.  The real problem is that I want a period correct tan/brown job, but old habits die hard and I keep trying to match the current AO.

A little green is kosher, too. Here's one of my favorite B2 photos. I have an all black Noveske in B2 format that I'm going to spray up like this one.

If I was trying to improve this paint job I think I would add some dark earth brown. Looks to have the lighter end of the spectrum covered, but I think some contrasting dark brown would help.

I would really like to see more of this one.  And this photo should be like a wet dream for the Block II RECCY constituency.

Earth Brown is caca.  I have like 3 different kinds and have tried using it every other time I have painted.  It just seems to take over.  I used the Flat Brown that DBM suggested and I like it a lot better.  I really don't have a lot of that rich soil round here either.  In the fall I will add more Brown and Oblit.

Try to care a little less, it  comes out better that way. Spraypaint is just one of those things that doesn't lend itself to OCD'ing.

I just close my eyes and let at it.

Trying hard to make it perfect makes it look dumb.

Like I said in the Mk18 thread, the parts of my rifle that I said " screw it" on look twice as good as the parts I tried to play perfectionist on.

Maybe after it gets broken in a little.  The real problem is that I want a period correct tan/brown job, but old habits die hard and I keep trying to match the current AO.

Can you post some deets on the process like how you got the depth tree bark almost look. I see some fishnet under but how'd you get the wavy kaleidoscopeish look(only way I could think to describe it)?

98% of it is fishnet.  I hit a couple of spots with a smaller size mesh laundry bag, but for the most part it's some "authentic decorative fishnet" I got off eBay.  All I did was just fold the net for each layer.

1. Base coat of Obliterating Compound
2. Crossing stripes with OD and Med Brown through a single layer of net.
3. Folded net (doubled) and sprayed with Krylon Satin Oregano and Oblit on the darker lines.
4. Folded net again (4 layers) and sprayed over the whole area from about 10" away with Rustoleum Army and (maybe) dark hunter green - that's where the funky patterns came from.

It sounds like a lot of paint, but the 3rd and 4th steps are very light (more of a blending affect) coat is really lite.

Thanks for the question.

If I was trying to improve this paint job I think I would add some dark earth brown. Looks to have the lighter end of the spectrum covered, but I think some contrasting dark brown would help.

Flick feelings lol.  You're not wrong, the brown just doesn't suit my taste...  I'll work some darker green or a top coat of the Med Brown or something.

Haven't they all had it for a long long while now?

I doubt Brownells was sitting on a ton of the same RIS IIs from several years ago.

I'm guessing he's referring to the old ones that still had holes on the bottom rail forward the FSP. If that's the case then I'm pretty sure Ryan's correct in that those haven't been made in quite a while now.

I'm sitting at about 140 total requested UID labels of various sizes. If we can get 200 total, that would bring $0.50 each towards the set up fee.

I'm also going to try to get some generic square labels for CQBR uppers

I'll send in a quote for what I have requested at the end of the month for a cost breakdown.

Frequent answers to questions:

- There are 2 sizes. Square and recangle. Choose either one or both. I need to know this for quotes.

- Yes, you can have your own serial number. I will send out PMs for S/Ns when it's a GO.

Did MARSOC ever use the FSP RIS II?

Most of the early pics of in the wild Block II's were MARSOC with the plain rails, but I'm curious if they've used the FSP model.

Reason I ask is eventually an NT4 will be in my future, and I would love to do a MARSOC Block II kit and would prefer he FSP RIS II over the regular.

Probably. Why MARSOC? What's the difference between a MARSOC M4A1 and an Army or Navy M4? All still use the NT4.

Hey guys, took me a week or so but I just finished "surfing" through this whole thread......  Got some nice ideas and what not.

I remember seeing approximately 3 pictures of just micro red dots i.e. Insight RMR's and/or Doctor's as "stand alone" units on some block II's.  One of them may have had a magnifier as well.  I think they were on some airborne units or something maybe around the 600 page mark.    I thought I saved the pictures but I am at a loss as to where I saved them to.  I don't think I can handle going through the entire thread again, would any of you guys have those pics saved?  ETA:  I am thinking the sights were in place because their primary optics were "down" or something along those lines.

Btw so far for my build, I have acquired a FSP Ris II, KAC 300 non micro BUIS, and a KAC Triple Tap(not technically clone correct but I'm thinking too bad ass to not put on this build)

May be trying to snatch up a COLT lower, would the M4LE be a poor choice seeing as it does not say M4 Carbine on it?'  I know the whole "no lower is correct lower" etc argument but I figured as long as I am going to get another lower may be closeish.

Thanks guys.

I guess I just hadn't seen many FSP's with NT4's period, so I figured if anyone was using them, it would be MARSOC.

I suppose it doesn't have to be though

First off welcome. Secondly, prepare your bank account for rape.

Regarding your lower, a lower is a lower from a functionality standpoint. That said, I don't think there's anything wrong with any colt lower as its still closer than say a spikes.

If you can find an m4a1 lower, good on you but expect to pay at least 500 or more. My best advice would be buy a 6920 and gut it. I did this on my mk12 and don't think I'm losing too many correct points over there.

This is honestly a great deal and a great place to start from in my opinion. Either build it as is and chop the barrel and FSP, or sell it and get the correct  SOPMOD profile.  Either way a hell of a deal  even if you just want the M4 Carbine lower.

Anyone have any pics handy of a FSP w/ NT4? I don't think I have any in my collection.

Yeah, I'm still not sure what I'm doing with mine either. Might just put it on the PR and then build another one of those down the road.

Most of us just couldn't pass up a new RIS II for $150. Not sure any of us actually needed one.
