I snagged on of these a while back from optics planet.  Called up leupold and they made me a mk12 mod 1 marked turret in FDE to match the scope.  Looks exactly the same as the black dial issued on the 112633 scopes.  Pretty cool to have a little more zoom and the same turret set up...

Response to question I sent to Leupold yesterday. Shoulda stated custom M2 MK12 turrets instead of M3, not sure if a M3 to M2 turret change can be done or not. Looks like illumination can be added, but price tag is $300 and not $175.

Should be easily done.  M3s should have 1/2 the amount clicks to get to the ranges shown on the M2s (1 Moa vs 1/2 Moa).  Wonder if THEY can figure that out.  It took them 2 tries and about 6 months to get me my FDE M2 mk12 mod 1 dial.  Told them to make part #112635 in FDE and it blew their mind.   Several people couldn't put that together in their mind and then I talked to a guy named Josh in the custom shop.  He got me lined out.

Range report from yesterday.  Took my mod 1 and m110 forgery out and shot some 100 & 300 yrd groups.  The Kreiger M110 barrel is accurate as hell.  I wish I could say the same for the Douglas mk 12.  All ammo was black hills 77 gr match in 5.56 and 175 SMK IN 308.

I'm wondering if the less than ideal eye relief on the A2 stocked mk 12 is causing these groups.

Attachment Attached File

That bottom right group is the best from the 308.  Best group from the mk12 is the center circle in the top target.

^^ It looks like your Mk262 groups aren't bad except for a flyer that screws each up; that leads me to think it's not necessarily the barrel.  Eye relief is a notorious issue with the Mk12 though.

If you can shoot a few groups from a rest that should narrow it down.

@Sampson-Dogg made a template - he may still have some available.

Also, AFAIK, the foam from mycasebuilder should be correct - the user (@Firejareen) worked with the company on several versions using issued foam as the sample to get it exactly right. The gif in the thread may not be exact (being a 5" representation of a 40x14" part), but supposedly the actual foam is.

Damn, so many nice builds here, though a lot of pics from the first page are gone now after Photobucket took a shit.

I have a question - how bad will I be shunned for using a VX-R Patrol 3-9x40mm instead of the correct glass?  $1,800 for a Mark 4 MR/T 2.5-8x36mm is kind of a hard pill to swallow, not to mention damn near impossible to find.

I'm guessing the answer is - go be poor somewhere else?

I don't think that anyone will fault you for using one if your saving or looking for the right one. People in the MK12 thread are generally pretty understanding if you are slowly changing your rifle into the correct one.  My first version was kind of spotty by today's standards

If you keep your eye on ee you can get that scope for under $1000.

If your looking in the $1800 range it's time to start looking at nightforce

Good grief, the VX-R is a decent scope.  Run what you got.
Many of us have not clone correct rifles, I've never even bothered to install one of my wheeled front sights, much less get something besides the LMT Defender 2000 lower.
And I don't even use the ARMS 22 rings, mainly because of PVS-22 compatibility, but also because they aren't the best choice for RTZ.
M16 lower, you have got to be kidding, I'd rather have the NV and suppressors. Had my share of full auto years ago. Anything else is a clone.
No A1 stock either, the SOPMOD suits me better due to adjustability.
You can build the most clone or original spec rifle ever, if you want, and gun the heck out of it, or something you shoot.
We've all been there.  Not many M16 lowers around, none you can afford, so don't worry about it.

Thanks!  I'll go grab one today.  For $890 CAD ($702 USD), at least I can get the rifle up and running without having to look at empty scope rings.....or the rear iron sight because I need to wait a bit to find the front iron sight, lol!

I'm pretty far from being able to post pics of my build, but I will as soon as more parts start coming in.

I was going for "close enough" with my MK18 build, but I ended up going full retard, replacing all sorts of parts because OCD.

Thanks again!

I don't know, for not much more you can get a MKIV - why not wait a few weeks and save up a bit more vs buying a $700 scope you know you will replace soon.  If you have to have glass in the meantime get something lower cost, just a entry level scope to get buy while you save a bit more for the correct one?  Hell just grab a Weaver or Vortex 3-9 for cheap to use temporarily... unless you never plan to put the correct scope on it, then buy what you want :).

Actually. I found a VXR for about $640 CAD ($510 USD) but hose Mark 4s are HUGE dollars in Canada, minimum $1899 CAD ($1,500 USD), and that's if yiu can even find one up here.
