Not a deal but a heads up if you ever consider placing a backorder at brownells. Perhaps it's common knowledge, but in years past Brownells would allow you to keep something on backorder awhile, if it was a long backorder they'd ping you with an email every couple months to keep the backorder active.
It appears that has changed, even if the site allows you to backorder it, they get cancelled with no notice. You can only see it if you go in and dig up your order status. I only noticed it because I backordered some sale stuff on Friday, the site let me order the items on backorder, and when I checked the status this morning it appeared that it was still listed as backordered, but if I expanded that order it was listed as cancelled. I talked with customer service and they said they cancel backorders because it wasn't fair to let people sit for an unknown amount of time on an item. So I knew i had made a couple previous backorders this year on a couple items so I looked up those orders and sure enough they cancelled those as well. I don't see the point of allowing someone to backorder an item only to cancel it right away, worse yet not clearly notifying them it was cancelled so they are expecting it to ship sooner or later. If that's the case they just shouldn't allow backorders in the first place. I can see their point about people getting upset with long backorders, but to me that's less annoying than cancelling a backorder without notice and someone sitting around thinking it's going to be filled at some point. |
