The new picatinny mounting method really has me intrigued, I'm really looking forward to snagging one.

Thanks, y'all! It balances extremely well. The weight definitely shifts forward a little bit with an SDN-6, but it still feels great. It's not obnoxiously front-heavy like a Sig 556 SBR with a rail that I have.
It is a Daniel Defense grip. I had recently sold an FDE Ergo grip so I could go back to all black, but someone posted the grip for cheap on the EE a couple of days ago and I've been curious about the DD grip. I didn't realize it had an integral when I said "I'll take it". A few minutes with a Dremel took care of it. There is a little bit of a bump between the grip and trigger guard on my lower. Looking at how the grip is designed, it makes sense, but obviously wouldn't work with my lower. I'll probably work on softening the height difference at some point, but I didn't do it today. EDIT - Also, the grip came with a grip plug with the DD logo on it. I had never seen that, but it pops in pretty snugly. I don't trust it enough to store anything in it like batteries. It certainly is more snug than the plug on an Ergo grip, but nowhere near as secure as the Magpul grips. It will work well enough to store a copy of my form 1. |

The only thing I refuse to put back on the rifle is the KAC cantilever mount. Mine kept coming lose and I swore I would never own another one when I sold it. |

Your missing the point, This has nothing to do with Costa. It has everything to do with recreating a rifle I used to have back when lots of people had this exact same setup. I have an mk12 but that doesn't make me a sniper fanboy. It's just fun

I am new to this site and also fairly new to ARs, I just purchased a BCM 16' upper with 15"KMR ELW-F upper. how well does the ELW-F Barrel do as far as heat goes? I am currently over seas and don't get to finish building my rifle till i am home so dont really know what to expect from it. i know all the research i did led me to buying a BCM because i could never find anything negative about them.

At least since I've been using LW barrels (since about 1978?). I've had some pretty hot barrels. Prolly said by the guys with big heavy barrels. Trying to justify why their rifles weigh 9-10+lbs. Yrs ago, read of a test where they ran a FA LW barreled 20" A1 with back to back drums. Just to see what failed first. IIRC, at approx 300rds, the gas tube was glowing red hot and then soon after warped leading to misalignment with the gas key. Instant failure of the entire weapon, of course. No issues with the barrel tho. I think were GTG here using semi auto with a LW barrel. |
