Put a 556 MAMS on that Mod 1 Carbine of yours and you'll have SR-15 perfection! I love the Elcan, excellent setup.

And sweet LMT, my second love in AR's behind KAC.

I'm really on the fence about getting the barrel under the handguard re-profiled to something a bit thinner. The accuracy of it is awesome ,but its just a tad bit on the heavy side for most of what I do.I got a great deal on it so I really cant complain lol

I would absolutely NOT do that.

That series of KAC decals always reminded me of something you'd see on an import car.

What would be the reason for going with an apc over an acc? Can anyone chime in on how the acc stacks up to the apc in long range shooting, and whether or not the weight savings was worth it?

Price - which there really isn't a difference between them new. The APC is slightly more accurate but nothing major

I would get the ACC unless you find a good deal on an APC. Either way you'll be happy. The APC is still a pretty light gun for what it is

New buttstock and flipped the Nvg mount around. Can't figure it which way to orient it.

Call me old fashioned, but I prefer the railed. Or they could have done something more aesthetically pleasing. To me it looks like something a high school-er in his first CAD class designed.

All they need to do is mill mlok chassis and it'd be game over

The SLK8 and LM8 chassis are good to to if you want a handguard that is smaller than a URX4, but I've never had a problem with the quads except when I milled my CQB chassis to take URX3 panels.  I still need to cerakote that little monster to match my LMT SBR lower that was done in 2010

When I saw that one come up I had to grab it quickly at the price the gentleman was offering it for.  I had a leftover 16" barrel just begging for a home and at the same time, ADM had a run of duty lowers so I went to work

The first SBR I ever got to fuck with (not counting my M4's in the Army) was a tricked out MRP (10.5" IIRC). It was pure sex.

Just got a new RAS II from Operation Parts; I actually like the fact that it free floats the barrel without taking apart the rifle and cutting off the delta ring. I know people say it limits optics, but with the low mount I can mount either a M68 or T-1 on the hump. Will post when finished

I don't think it's thinner once you attach the grip panels

It's thinner than a non-modified rail with covers.

This is correct.  It wasn't merely to make it thinner----it was just an idea I had to run URX3 panels on it since LMT drilled and threaded the chassis to match URX3/3.1 rails.

I considered working my rifle length chassis over but just looking at where the panels would line up, I decided against it.

Is the qd cup on the sr-15 lower removable? Say like any other castle nut? I know this is sort of a dumb question. Thinking about buying one but hate QD- would probably like to throw a cqd on it and call it a day.

You can run any standard end plate on the QD cup lowers. It wont effect anything at all. I run a Noveske QD endplate on mine since I'm not fond of using the QD sockets on the actual SR15 lower since they interfere with the safety when I use them as a sling mount.

Here's a picture of my M&P15-22 with a KAC URX 3.1 that I installed. It took some modifying of the upper receiver and the KAC barrel nut but I'm extremly happy with the end result. The only thing left to do is to put the KAC rail panels on.
