I know, you're not supposed to split the rails with the mount.  But this keeps the eye relief the same as my other rifles.

If you want more eye relief, swap the ADM recon mount you have for the Recon X or a larue spr-e. Shit, if you wanna ball out, geissele makes an expensive ass hyper-extended mount.

If you notice issues with a wandering zero, there are options.

Or extend your stock. That's what it's there for. Unless you're a midget, you don't need it that far in, IMO.

Cool. NTCH was never for me (watch some of Frank Proctor's videos...or Steve Fisher) but if it works...what can I say.

I actually sympathize with op there. I run my stocks all the way in. I greatly prefer how the rifle balances. I'd much rather have the weight closer in, rather than further out, fatiguing my arms faster.

I don't really shoot NTCH either. The heel of stock goes into my pec more than my arm/shoulder.

I did, then I didn't, now I do again.    It at least gives you a repeatable place for your face, which does help shooting.  Consistency.  I didn't watch the videos you talked about but I know I see a lot of "Operators" run them out all the way and I think that helps with extending their left arm further down the rail.  Especially with a carbine.  And have the more straighter left arm thing going on.  Which is good for some people too.  And I'm sure there are other good reasons.  But whatever works for you.  And that may change from time to time.  It gets irritating when people act like there is only ONE way of doing something.  Because it's simply not true.  You think every dude that was shown to chicken wing back in the old days died because there might have been a better way of doing things?  I doubt it. I'm sure some rocked the technique just fine.  Etc etc.  This technique, that technique.  What matters is can you hit your target when you need to.

I would LOVE to see a range report on some precision shooting you've done.  I'm always interested in knowing just how accurate some LW barrels are.  Especially if FF helps them at all.  Or if you feel like heat is an issue with groups.  Etc.

That's a very cool build.

What does an "average" Recce usually weigh? I'm trying to decide if I am getting too heavy or not.

Once I added bipod, scope mount, scope, I think I am at like 9.5lbs. But this is with a 16" LW barrel.

Been thinking about getting a Larue Stealth 16", which would add another like 12 or 13 ounces. That would be well over 10lbs before adding any weapon light.

Thoughts?

Per my bathroom scale, my 16in is right around 8lbs.

Bison Armory Recon profile barrel
13in ALG v3
Leupold Mark AR 1.5-4 w/firedot in ADM recon mount.
Vltor emod stock

I have no bipod, and if you're optic is a pig, it can certainly push the ounces.

If you could, please do a with suppressor and without weight? And just a list of whats on the rifle or a pic would be perfect. Trying to figure out what I want to do to optimally balance my rifle for my needs.

I'm at 10 without the suppressor and 11 with.  That's on my bathroom scale with a full mag.  It does have a pretty thick barrel.  Without the suppressor I could hold it up for awhile, with it starts to wear on me

The pic is posted above earlier today

Oh yes, beautiful rifle. Thanks for getting those weights for me. I'm weighing my stuff now to see where I am at since I couldn't remember exactly. Will post soon.

Edit: Oh also that doesn't seem terrible weight for having a fully loaded 30 round magazine (15 oz right there!)
Link Posted: 9/9/2016 12:18:42 AM EDT
[#19]
Weights of my rifle listed below:

Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x32 in Larue SPR-E : 1lb 11.375oz
Bipod : 12.125oz
Rifle (no magazine) : 6lb 14.375oz

All rifle components: Mega Billet Upper/Lower, 12" DD Lite Rail III, 16" DD LW CHF barrel, DD Flash Hider, DD M16 BCG, mil spec buffer tube, H buffer, Vltor Emod Stock, Magpul MOE Grip, Geissele SD-C, AXTS Raptor, AXTS Talon Safety, Larue Index clips and 2 DD rail covers

Total weight (all added together) : 9lb 5.875oz

I guess this isn't a bad weight, it wasn't built as being a lightweight rifle (hence the billet receivers), but not exactly built to be a pig either. It's mainly just the scope and mount that adds a significant amount.

My recce weights 9.5lbs without sling, mag, or bipod. Proportionally most of that weight is the barrel, which is a pretty heavy profile.

Thanks! Ended up with a H59.  Got a decent price, not a smoking deal.  I was too anxious to get one to search for a long time. So far I love it, but I haven't gotten to stretch it out passed 200 yet.

Now the debate is when to cerakote it.

Bcm 16" BFH barrel
Larue 12 rail
Harris 6-9 on a yhm mount
A1 stock

The scope is a leupold Vari x iii tactical 3.5-10. I just started playing with it. I'm not a hundred percent what reticle it is though. It's ffp, looks like mil dot with hashes between the dots (TMR maybe?).

Front Focal TMR?

I really do like your build too.

It sounds like it is a Premier conversion, it is probably the Gen 2 Mil Dot from Premier Reticles.  I had one, it is a nice reticle and a good scope.

After some research it does look to be the premier reticle. The scope and mount are actually on the ee as of last night. Kinda want to go to 14.5 with a collapsible stock and 1-4 optic. Here's the picture of the reticle.
