View Quote The SEAL Recce's are neat because there is a lot more flexibility in what is considered acceptable, especially with optics. Unfortunately, off the cuff I can't really think of any FFP scopes that would be close to fitting the part of a SEAL Recce from pictures that have been released. The most widely seen are Schmidt and Bender Short Dots, Nightforce NXS's (1-4, 2.5-10), and Leupold Mk4 variants. In my opinion if you wanted a FFP and to remain within the outer edge of plausibility, I would look at maybe a Mk6 or Mk8 Leupold as it could be feasible as they are already in the system on other military weapons. Also consider a Leupold Mk4 FFP 3.5-10x40, as they have been seen on Mk12's. However, I would probably agree with the poster above me. For the capability of a Recce and moreover a Colt 6920 barrel, a SFP scope should suffice just fine in my humble opinion. An excellent scope and clone correct option would a Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x32, as seen on Dom Raso's Recce. At the end of the day it really comes down to how much you want to get into the clone "correct" side of things. As I started off with, the Recce's guidelines are pretty loose to just build something that works for you and you enjoy. Repost of my work in progress. Don't have the scope anymore, looking to get a 2.5-8x36 Leupy. NT4 is pending. PEQ2 will come eventually after NV. IMG_1979 by G Aston, on Flickr |

Nice gun gaston and thanks for the feedback. I think I might pull the trigger on the MK4. The nightforce is tempting but a lot of dough. Honestly a TA11 ACOG is sort of tempting me right now and I dont know why...this build is stressful

Gaston, is that a Delta clone?
What optic are you pulling the Leupold from if so? |

I bought a leupold Mark 6 1-6 to go on my Reeceish type build, I just wonder if it's going to have enough magnification for me.

Well...in a stunning turn of events I went for the Viper PST 2.5-10x32. Found an open box from a retail store for $719 and couldnt pass it up. Not clone perfect but I can always move it to a bolt gun or my SCAR when I buy one in the future.
I also wont feel bad painting a $719 scope Ordering my KAC Front sight, B5 SOPMOD, and bipod tonight. Cant wait to get everything in and duracoated, these MK12/RECEE hybrids are so nice looking. |

Quick question fellas,

If you want a been there done that look with paint weathering then I'd get black and spray paint it. I like either setup. If you are looking for a cheap SOPMOD let me know. I have a gen 1 LMT and B5 SOPMOD in black that still have some paint caked on. |

So im building a rifle for my dad im paying for it then he will pay me back. Now I could do the right thing and put hat money back to the credit card or...... I could use it to buy a scope for my Recce. $350-400 any thoughts on a scope in that range? yeah I know i cant get a Nightforce or any thing high end but would be better than my current one

In that price range it's hard to recommend anything other than a Vortex. They are a very solid optic with the best warranty in the industry and they offer features from scopes twice the price. If I were you I would look for a used or open box optic because the warranty is transferable. If something is wrong Vortex will make it right.
I had a Viper PST 1-4 for a short while and sold it for this current RECCE build and have a Viper PST 2.5-10 (open box I found on ebay) on the way. |

I found the strike eagle to have a very sensitive eye box I didn't have any trouble with my Viper and felt like it had forgiving eye relief. The Viper PST line is a step below their premium line so it probably has nicer glass, relief and eye box compared to that Strike Eagle. I wouldnt let that experience deter you from getting a Viper. I would dial it down to 1x and walk around my house with it just because and I didnt have any problems with the eye box either. The reticle on the 1-4 is a great mix of close range speed on 1x and a little more precision at 4x. |

I like it a lot for the price. The reticle is great for picking up targets fast. the Leupold has the TMR reticle which is nice. Not sure what Vortex you're looking at though. vortex viper 3-9x40 |

That is a barrel that is no longer made. It was made by JTAC Supply out of Panola, Oklahoma. It was made for him by White Oak Armament. Has a nice profile. 1/7 Twist 416SS. |
