Went to the range with my old platoon this past week-end, and took my Optimus. Full Length config using a minimalist break.
Mounted on an AR platform in .300BO 16 inch BBL 150gr - hardly a pop, OK maybe a bit louder 220gr - scary quiet Mounted on a Bolt action Precision Rifle in.243 22 inch BBL 100gr - surprisingly quiet - noticeable pop - more like a zip sound Two more people will be ordering Optimus' |

Has anyone bought a cover for the optimus yet? Thinking about getting a burnproof gear cover in 6.5 in for the short config.

I just ordered a cole-tac pouch. Based on what I saw you could use it to remove the suppressor as well as keep it stored in while cooling off.

Really enjoyed mine on the buck mark today!! Only wished I had brought more 22lr ammo...
Attached File I had never shot a suppressed pistol before. Really had a blast. Might need to get a new spring for my glock 19. Wasn't feeding 100%. ETA - with high velocity ammo this thing was quieter than my Gamo pellet rifle. And ran 100% with good ammo. Some of my junk 22lr ammo wasn't so good but unless I'm shooting my sp101 revolver it never is. |

What ammo did you fire and any cycling issues?
My buckmark with Tacsol 4" is going to be one of my main hosts. On another note how many baffles do you all have in yours? I have a booster, 5 regular sized and one thin one closest to the endcap. I watched a bunch of videos and never see any mention of this thin baffle. I only see mention that there are 5 main baffles and then the booster. My count is 6 and the booster. Is everyone's like this? |

Right I follow you there, that is only used in mid and full length configurations.
But what has me baffled, haha, is in the main baffle stack I actually have 6 baffles. Everything I have read and seen shows 5. I have 5 that are all the same size and one that is very thin. I see no mention of this small baffle in any videos for the Optimus. I have seen others Griffin cans that have this thin baffle. Do you all have this one as well? |

Like the one pictured in this Revolution image on their site. The thin one right in front of the other baffles.

But 5 goldfish colored ones. Ive got an early serial number, maybe they changed something. @griffin_armament could chime in for clarification. |

Nope only one can this is how it came. When I got it I did the heat and dip into brake fluid. It kind of through me off. Then I started looking around and noticed it was not mentioned anywhere it got me thinking.
Did I get something extra or did they make a change. Like you said perhaps Griffin will chime in on this. I saw one other above mentioned they have it on theirs. My serial number is in the 800s. |

Gen 2 Optimus have different internal geometry that support the additional small "mini" baffle. Wont work on earlier ones as they would stop the taper lock endcap from seating all the way and would come loose during shooting.

Huh, I sent them an IM over a year ago inquiring/suggesting that a small extra baffle could fit there or be integrated into the lock ring. I sure wouldn't mind having an extra baffle in mine and would pay for the upgrade, depending on the price of course
|
|
[#23]
I asked them the same question on instagram and they said it would not be possible since it would require machining of the inside of the tube. They also said the difference between the 2 is minimal.
Honestly, my optimus is a great can. Reliably, accurate, and quiet on everything I have put it on. I just feel a little greedy asking for more out of it so I am not disappointed that I can't the the extra mini baffle. |

PSA: Put a wire brush in a drill and hit your threads with it.
I started to get frustrated with my Optimus. I was used to my SDN-6 which requires approximately 0 attention. After a few hundred rounds of 22 the optimus would meld itself together. I had been cleaning it, I'd take it apart and scrub everything with CLP to no avail. That being said its been about 700 rounds of lead 22 and 200 rounds of 9mm with no attention given to the threads in particular. Finally i hooked a bore brush up to a drill and took a few passes at the threads. Tons of lead / carbon / shit flew out. Just went back together like new. |

I've got the brushes too, but I've found that antiseize is the ticket. I hit the threads with it and a little on the baffles (edges where they slide in the tube), as such cleanup is a breeze. View Quote I put the optimus through its paces at a group shoot the other day. About 1,000 rounds of 22/9mm/556 in a few hours. It performed great but in the back of my mind i was worried about one of the many parts coming loose. I dont think I'll do that again due to the worry in the back of my mind but in its defense it performed 100%. |

Anyone else's can loosening under normal use in the mid configuration? I noticed this in the beginning but I thought maybe it was a fluke. I was thinking maybe i didn't tighten it enough but even after tightening it with a strap stench it still loosens before i can even finish a mag. This is on a 10.5 ar build and C39V2. It loosens on both the taper mount muzzle device and the taper lock between the suppressor and the taper mount minimalist blast shield. Happens almost every time

If your tapered surfaces (ID of tube OD of mid mount, both taper lok baffle surfaces) aren't clean that could effect that. You may want to get a large cresent wrench and strap wrench and use that to install the mid extension to the tube and possible very light torque to install it on the muzzle device.
The problem with the mid is there isn't a lot of part to hold onto so it's tough to get the torque on it to install it on either part. ND industries sells a product called ST3-L5 that can be used on threads and adds some security for vibration. We have had intention of bottling small quantities of that and selling it for odd applications involving threads like Rev front caps or whatever a customer might want (because ND only sells large containers) but we have never been slow enough to put someone on that. |

The 1/2x28 is in a machine now on the floor. It's run about 400 parts. We're switching to 5/8x24 in a couple days, and we are planning to also run some 14x1LH Ak mounts. That machine is a new 8 axis machine and we're only running it one shift with the night shift operators on days training to run it, so that is slightly slowing the production speed down. The minimalist flash suppressors will be followed by taper mount flash comps and hammer comps, then probably minimalist muzzle brakes.
