Have you ever considered making a Geissele AK trigger? The Tapco G2 is the only aftermarket AK trigger on the market and leaves a lot to be desired.

Would also buy, especially if its anything like a super dynamic 3 gun trigger. :p
|
|
oh I was thinking more of the high-speed marksman type for say a zastava m76 or vepr .308.
|
|
I would think one similar to the SSA or SSA-E would be a good fit for the AK.
|
|
|
I'd be all over a clean 2 stage that doesn't use a bunch of set screws. Big points for a flat bow version. With the high quality Russian, Bulgarian, and Serbian rifles on the market and Radom setting up shop in Texas, I think you have a market.
|
|
Come on guys! Corner the market!!!
Hell, do an ALG trigger!!!!!!!!!!!! The trashcan rifle deserves something!!! |
|
Galil ACE's are on the way, I think 2015 is going to be all about the Kalashnikov platform.

I recall an older thread (probably one of many) asking for a geissele ak trigger, G's response was basically the AK trigger design has large/loose tolerances on purpose and it wouldn't make sense for them to invest in production. Maybe things have changed since then, seeing as how geissele is turning out a ton of different product.

I put Rightous Ruler on an AK trigger. It's been a week and he darn near has it done. It will be an ALG trigger, about $49. Way better than what's out on the market now, but not an SSA or Hi-Speed. Stay tuned for Shot.

Absolutely perfect! Money in hand, Santa's going to be heavy in the arms trade this year.

How cool is this?!? I know lots of people who will be buying one! Unfortunately I sold my AK to help get up a down payment for a car, but when I get another Kalashnikov down the road I'll for sure be buying this trigger!

Thanks for all of your Great products. If this is anything like the other ALG triggers you are going to have a tough time keeping them in stock!

Will there be one with a flat trigger bow? That's really what I'm seeking after SDC and SD3G in ARs.

Another Cola Warrior here...Guess I'll be upgrading to ALG's in both of my SGL's

Ill tell you guys something........everyday it makes me very proud to have the Engineering Dept that we have here at Geissele. Our guys are totally awesome. Righteous Ruler has this almost finished if you can believe it. The bow and its shape is killer. We are shooting for a real nice single stage pull. I am hoping to have steel prototypes built by Christmas

Excellent I think you guys are doing this right by offering it for $49 as an ALG product. After all the G2 isn't bad for $30.
Will the hammer be rounded down to allow the carrier to ride over it without binding? (because G2's can do this until they get ground down.) |

A saw the trigger today and now I'll have to go out and buy an AK. Being friends with Sagmill is expensive.

Here's an image I snagged off google; the red area of AK hammers can cause the bolt to hold open. The hump on the hammer pushes the carrier up against the rails and the friction holds it open. The red area is where people grind them down and polish them. I grind down all my G2 triggers in this area and polish them to prevent this; arsenal hammers also have the hump. The issue usually happens when charging the rifle and riding the charging handle forward or if you give the rifle a weak charge and don't get the handle back all the way. http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k31/Kathus_Kattan/Builds/Ak%20trigger%20work/HammerWork.jpg View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I had a Hungarian Type 3 build that used a mostly intact trigger group (fewer 922R parts on a milled rifle) with the original full-auto cut hammer. It was chamfered exactly as FiveToOne illustrated above and the action never stuck or needed to be worn in. One recommendation for the Geissele team is to please check fitment in Bulgarian Arsenal rifles and Veprs as these rifles are a little different. My SLR-107 has an extra long rivet under the disconnector to "prevent trigger slap." For years this meant that a competitors trigger was a no go until it was redesigned recently. SLR owners were stuck with either the crappy faux two-stage Arsenal trigger or permanently modifying their rifle.

The Tapco G2's work fine in the SLR's without trigger slap; The Tapco's I think also don't require the Arsenal rivet to prevent trigger slap but i'm not very knowledgable about trigger slap so i dunno really. It's Hammer Time! From Left to right, Arsenal US, Bulgarian, Russian (izzy 88) The Arsenal trigger group can hang up sometimes, I think their chamfer angle geomerty is a little off. I've never tried the bulgy or Russian hammers in a gun before; I'd assume the Russians know how to make an AK hammer though. <a href="http://s399.photobucket.com/user/trn_photobucket/media/2014-12-06121050_zps93a589bf.jpg.html" target="_blank">http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp80/trn_photobucket/2014-12-06121050_zps93a589bf.jpg</a> View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

When the hammer hangs up where exactly does it hang up on? I have two Arsenal AKs we are using as test guns, one with a stamped receiver and one with a milled receiver. I think I see how the chamfer works on top of the hammer, when the bolt carrier is in the far back position and comes forward it will ride over that chamfer. Is that the hang up position? Where does the trigger slap come from? I am pulling these Arsenal triggers and really can't detect too much other than when the disconnector backs out of the way |

Here is where the carrier hits the hammer and can hang on some hammers: It happens about at this point of the action cycling: And here is a video, this is using a Tapco G2 that I worked over pretty good with a grinder and polishing wheel so it doesn't hang. There is still a spot in the action when riding the charging handle that the carrier impacts the hammer that the video helps illustrate: I can't get the video to embed: youtube video Regarding the Arsenal Trigger slap thats something i'm not very familiar with. I don't know what causes trigger slap to speak to it in an educated way. I do know that Arsenals solution to trigger slap was to install this raised rivet and put a tail on their disconnector. The tail bangs into the top of the rivet and kinds of mashes it down a bit, in a few rare cases the rivets get too mashed down to work. Also another rare Arsenal issue with that the wacking together of the rivet and disconnector have caused the disconnectors to crack and break. Here is a picture of a Tapco G2 FCG which doesn't have the tail, i'm pointing at the Arsenal trigger slap rivet in the bottom of the receiver. For whatever reasons that I don't know the G2 FCG does not suffer trigger slap issues. |

Sounds great! I've asked a couple times for a Geissele AK trigger on your Facebook page.
I know that you are an industry partner here, but you should open an account and post the progress of this on forums such as akfiles.com and theakforum.net There are plenty of knowledgeable people and experienced AK gunsmiths that might be able to offer some valuable advice or information that would benefit the production of these triggers. I would also offer some of these with an original profile trigger, for those that want to keep their AK "correct" but need to use a US trigger group for 922R parts count. |
|
I hope it runs on a sleeve like the Russian factory triggers... Those have the best feel out of the ones I have used on any AK. I have one I can loan you guys if you need to look at , its a very rare part to have stateside.

Texas triggers also make an aftermarket one. http://www.redstararms.com/index1.html?1136.html&1 |

I use a Tapco hammer and disconnect with surplus Bulgarian trigger arm/ sear. What I would want in a new trigger would be a more defined break point or less travel length. The trigger is already light but not as crisp as I could dream of. Reset is pretty clunky on every ak I've had and could be a little I don't know... Maybe feel less like pulling the pin on a spring loaded shaft and more like pushing the top of a pen. Not sure how to describe that one. One thing I would mention is that a single hook would fit most ak variants and that would be nice. Many guys wouldn't want to start filing their trigger hole to fit the 2nd hook cutout. Also it would be nice if it could work with the f/a parts. Right now there aren't many guys that would need that but we can all dream of a day when f/a is just a tax stamp away for the average Joe. |

If they can make one that is as good as the Red Star Arms trigger and is cheaper that would be awesome .
