Thanks osha!
The rail market is literally flooded, but Geissele MK1 remains one of my favorites, along with DD RIS II. No barrel nut indexing. Solid, fail proof, and elegant attachment mechanism. Generous interior space to accommodate various low profile gas blocks. Strong, both in feel and actuality. Ergonomics (MK1 especially). Aesthetically pleasing (this one is subjective). I think the MK1 Mod 0 is the most ergonomic and comfortable rail I've held to date - thanks to the 3D machining. Compatability be damned, I think the the MK1's original antirotation design was very aesthetically pleasing and should be brought back. Maybe incorporate the relief cuts on the top of the rail that we see on the MK4 and MK8 M-LOK, no helicoils for the attachment and stick with the dog-bone design. |

LO white light is very nice for illuminating path without breaking natural night vision and wash out reticle. White color is similar to Surefire’s X300U. The light pattern does not require the bezel to be placed next to muzzle to eliminate the muzzle shadow. With Surefire SF3P flash hider and bezel flush with rail front end, one would see a small tip right where the spill blends into the dark. I only pushed it further out, so I can grab the rail at same spot when shooting form support side. Diffused IR serves a functionality similar to the Princeton Tec or the IR light on PVS-15 except it slightly better in my opinion. When turned on, it produces a pretty uniformly illuminated sphere with a 5-7 yard radius (and fades gradually), regardless the bezel direction. Easy to use two stage push button. -- First stage up to the wall for LO momentary. Continue to push past the wall for HI momentary. -- Double push for constant on. -- Double push and hold for strobe. Low profile, lightweight, and misc. Hugs the rail very close. The push button still works with remote pressure switch plugged in and servers as a backup. The switch plug bends at a 90 degree angle and doesn’t get in the way when shooting from support side. Surefire switch plug adds another 1.5” to the light plus the cord. Remote / pressure switch is connected to light via coaxial cable. This means disconnected the cable when light is on does not cut off the light. Auto shut off after 30 minutes. Lamp overheat protection - the light has a built-in sensor and when overheat it adjusts down the light intensity by 10% continuously to allow cooling. |

SUGGESTION I would ask you guys to please consider adding small elongated holes along "the vertical walls" immediately below the 12 o'clock rail. These holes would facilitate people to run cable ties to secure pressure switch or 550 cord to tight down accessories. I don't know how many people have all 10-, 13-, and 15-inch MK1s, but I am one of them. Just put this upper together recently. Brand new. It has zero round on it. 15 inch MK1. Noveske 16 inch lightweight barrel. Leupold MK8 CQBSS 1.1-8X24. Planning on taking this puppy to Utah for a scoped carbine class. Need 3 votes to show. Until then click on the link. Enjoy. |
